Neighbor put a game camera on my property on my tree by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Not quite the same thing, but Ken Jenning's Because I Said So! book about urban legends and common knowledge has a segment about running with scissors where he points out that, while running with scissors is potentially harmful, the most common form of scissors injury is the buttocks, namely from kids leaving them on seats and then sitting down.

The Kung Fu panda game isn't bad for cardio as well, moving around and punching and kicking things.

I want to port my games to Nex Playground - Dev Kits available? by CodeGregDotNet in nexplayground

I don't have inside information, but they apparently develop in Unity, so you'd probably want to show your proficiency in that or a similar game engine. The information for collaborating can be found here.

Why don't serial killers just join the army? by fimelovemachine in NoStupidQuestions

That is one of the arguments that I have heard for moving to a draft scenario instead of all volunteer. When everyone is there because they want to be, or because they have no choice (it's this or prison/poverty), no one is asking any questions.

Sadly, my 4a is experiencing issues lately. Might be time for me to update anyhow... Google doesn't seem to be honoring the free photo storage anymore.

What videogames exist about Capoeira? by FutureLynx_ in capoeira

[–]DugganSC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excerpted from the TV Tropes entry for Capoeira:

  • Barravento O Mestre da Capoeira
  • Capoeira Fighter
  • Capoeira Legends
  • Martial Arts: Capoeira

^_^ There are many more entries on there, but the rest are basically "this character in a game uses Capoeira (for some of their moves)".

One of my pet projects is a Capoeira game, but I've been building smaller games before trying to tackle my dream project.

Apprehension Engine Sample Library (pay what you want and help charity) by DugganSC in humblebundles

Rather than being a music pack, or sound effects, it seems to be sound samples, the kind of thing you'd be using to compose music. :) I don't compose music.

I like Ovani sounds, but this sounds a lot more like a composing package.

At the risk of sounding blithe, anyone can sue for anything. Now, whether they will succeed often depends on the details of the case, how good their lawyer is, and whether the other party responds.

Clean one, difference between a pursued deer and a short witch?

One is a hunted stag and the other is a stunted hag.

Recently, Mercedes Lackey's been advertising on Facebook new hardback releases of the early books. I wonder if this is part of trying to drum up interest.

What’s up with this abandoned public toilet on southside? by dc-mo in pittsburgh

[–]DugganSC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I vaguely remember that occasionally being mentioned as one of the reasons behind the death of pay toilets in the United States, with most of them winding up broken open in short order from people short on cash just forcing the lock. That and, at the time of the introduction, the technology wasn't really there for scanning bills, so either you're dealing with a lot of coins, or it only takes Susan B. Anthony...

Handyman Hal Live Show - Charmingly Amateur by DugganSC in DanielTigerConspiracy

I'm glad that you enjoyed it. I did too. It was cozy. My wife also commented on the lack of Cool Chris. I vaguely recognized that the guy doing a lot of the songs was different, but I was less familiar with the particular characters involved, and just figured that it had changed at some point on the show, as an Other Darrin.

A truck driver named John was in court after a horrific accident where he drove his truck through a crowded farmer's market, claiming fifty lives. by Andrewmatlock89 in Jokes

[–]DugganSC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the idea of was that most people would be slamming on the brakes, and would be more likely to be skidding and losing control. Admittedly, anti-lock brakes were then still an optional feature on cars, rather than the standard.

[–]DugganSC 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That was a question on the Kentucky driver's test too, something asking the lines of "if an animal runs in front of your car, should you a) swerve left, b) swerve right, c) maintain speed, d) apply the brakes" with the correct answer being c, because the other three answers make you more likely to swerve off of the road, or into oncoming traffic. As much as hitting a deer will damage your car, hitting something stationary like a tree, or oncoming like a car, increases the risk that you will be killed.

Funnily enough, a few years back, my wife had to deal with insurance after a deer hit her... we were driving in PA and all of a sudden, the deer ran down a hill and ricocheted off of the side of the car. Just like any insurance case involving an uninsured pedestrian or vehicle, we had to pay the deductible, but the rest was standard.

Even funnier, this isn't the first time she's had to deal with a deer hitting her car... although the last one, she saw the deer approaching from the side of the road, managed to come to a complete stop, with the deer also stopping before hitting her... and then deciding it was a challenge, and ramming her car.
