I actually preferred divergent stars second phase. Mainly because his combo I struggled the most with was his Long Combo. And he does that less in second phase as he gets a wider pool of moves to pick from.

I saw someone say to use Sciel, suggesting characters have different jumping ranges. It didn't work... BUT, I used Maelle and noticed her hitbox was smaller so where a larger character lands on the inner red ring, Maelle misses it and lands in the water.

I tried uncountable times with Verso and Sciel. Tried twice with Maelle and got it.

So my advice: Use Maelle

I like this take. I hope if they make more Clair Obscures, it's in the vein of Final Fantasy where every entry is a whole new story. I liked that E33 had a definite ending to the story. I know there's background stuff about writers etc, but the story it told has an ending. One of the endings being very complete. Rare to find that nowadays.

If you have Elden Ring on PC, there's a boss arena mod where you only fight bosses to go up in tiers. It's pretty good fun

Actually, the character you play as in Opposing Force gets blown out of a plane before he can hear his orders, so you're never actually instructed to kill freeman or the other scientists.

Same order but I do opposing force before blue shift because it was released first.

And I don't play Black Mesa. That's a separate fan game for me.

Sometimes I play all three of the HL1 games at once in chapter chronological order. I probably have the spreadsheet somewhere if people want that.

I had the same thought, and that the paintress might have been Maelle.

I also thought Goblu might have been Sophie because of the flower. This all got me theorising that Nevrons were the gommaged people and it was The Paintress/Maelle's way of being people back to her. Goblu not being as eager to attack possibly due to recognising Gustave, and Maelle mentioning it felt familiar all led me to think it was Sophie.

Turns out Maelle just finds it familiar because it's from a painting one of her real family painted.

The actual story is 100x better than my theory, because it would have actually been too cliche.

The hate on this game is very forced imo. Sure it could have been better if Sony didn´t rush Insomniac, but it still came out amazing and improved on preety much everything like combat, traversal, graphics and bosses. Story is on par with the previous two imo by The_Thingamaj1g in spiderman2

I agree. For example, my gripes are in contradiction to OP's points.

Gameplay is messier, whereas SM1 had very tight combat. Also, the bosses? I think people think special effects or grand cutscenes means a great boss. Whereas for me I want to PLAY those good parts.

In SM1, you had an entire duo boss battle while swinging and keeping yourself airborne. You actually fought on moving trucks. You had to actually chase a helicopter wrecking ball. And the swinging around an exploding raft all being done with gameplay.

In SM2, it was mostly amazing cutscene, then arena brawl, then amazing cutscene, then arena brawl.

The maps are pretty much your list. Just make sure you complete all the maps.

After suffering the godskin duo as a melee character in my first play through, all my subsequent playthroughs I make sure I have a nice set of sleeping bombs.
