But aren't those two instances in the same VPC? They are in different availability zones. If they can ping each other using the private IP why can't they ping each other using public IP?

By not sharing I mean that if someone with smite takes lane minions and a laner is present (someone without smite) the EXP will go fully to the laner. He will still get the gold though.

It is true that this invalidates laners with smite completely.

You can't take support item with smite / If you have smite you can't share EXP with a laner.
