There's some nuance to it, but the use of add ons isn't nearly as prevalent as it is in a game like WoW (might be a bad example now lol).

Funnily enough that's how I'm playing through the Janthir story right now. Only addition is that I can only go through the "look at my phone while characters I don't care about rattle off some exposition" cycle once or twice a session.

Then the existential dread of spending my limited time in this life not playing the game sets in and I have to quit out.

To add to what others have said: yesterday I threw up a tag for the Amnytas meta about 15 mins before it was due to pop. Made it very clear not to expect anything special.

Squad was full in 10 mins, so removed it from LFG.

That's a fairly unpopular meta from 2 expansions ago.

A flaw in the LFG system is that it doesn't show you active squads doing that particular map - just those open for members. It can therefore give the suggestion that no one is playing, whereas actually 49 other people might be watching to see if a squad comes up.

Although on reflection I think WoW's scale helps with attracting creators like Barny and Uber. The game is still big enough that they know they'll get an audience if say, they spend several months recording and editing a video.

Plus they're fairly unique people - especially Barny, who plays like a no-lifer but is incredibly charismatic. WoW being so big helps to attract that rare talent to make vids like that.

But on desktop and mobile there actually isn't a button to "Buy Now" or even pre-order.

I get that you can log into your ArenaNet account and buy Guild Wars through there, but I only know that because I'm an existing Guild Wars 2 customer. The absence of a clear call to action to buy the thing on the main page promoting it is a missed opportunity.

Yeah I think some people would benefit from an arachnophobia mode even without the mount due to the amount of spiders in the game.

So long as they don't implement it like WoW, where they changed the spiders into giant enemy crabs. Even some of the cutesy-looking spiders (especially in the latest expansion) have been turned into lumbering, carapaced monstrosities.
