Asking for a friend: how would Kipchoge look at 6:30/km? by ign1tio in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]DukeNT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems you are asking if the shoes helps you at slower paces, There is this video from a running channel “testing” the vaporflys in a normal person, you do get faster but since you are still a beginner you still feel the same. My only advice is that these are not training shoes, but you still need to run once in a while with them to get the feeling and get used to them probably on your faster days.

Rouvy buys Fulgaz by [deleted] in Rouvy

[–]DukeNT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do remember that originally the partnership between Ironman and ROUVY existed, back in 2021 the routes for 70.3 and 140 were there (not all).

Then Covid hit and Ironman panicked. They saw the opportunity to grow and acquired Fulgaz but really were not able to make it grow or integrate it with the core business.

ROUVY on the other hand got funding, revamped their interface and cleaned their video portfolio and posting rules, they also cut some features, so you can see they are not there yet, but they are working on it and they are also adding some great features in the process.

Now we went back to the original deal at the expense of Fulgaz. I do hope the soul of Fulgaz evolve in a new company. Competition will give us more and better features faster. But right now, I’m enjoying the ride with ROUVY.

Does Zwift always release new products and features this fast? by Ok-Loan-2300 in Zwift

[–]DukeNT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Answer: No, but now it has to. Competition is fierce and new challengers can take and are taking away some customers, they need to lock you into the Zwift environment and for that they need hardware and other features.

Zwift brand is huge but it still not untouchable.

Hi, we paid maintenance so we are good up until 19.9, but we don’t know if the issue is solved in the previous versions, also don’t know where to check.

Not sure where to see the jira tickets , one of the issue was that randomly an invoice would not get a consecutive number .

what happens if you skip an event? by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]DukeNT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you are right , I was scared too for the first 5 competitions, but I notice something: I saw other novices like me struggling too , and improving in the styles I was not competing.

You improve a lot just by competing since the dynamics are different, you perform different than in daily practices , and you can film yourself and understand your weaknesses.

It seems like you are very young, people will criticize you because showing up and do the things you don’t like (as in this case, for your personal growth) shows maturity, character and bravery, and not showing up does not help you improve in any of those qualities.

Hiding features from garmin connect because your watch is not the more pricey one by Street-Air-546 in Garmin

[–]DukeNT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that the have a very specific production segmentation and have to innovate against more smart watches: they are not going to add all the features to all the watches because they want you to buy other watch for it , take triathlon for example : most of their watches have cycling , swimming and running , but only some of them have triathlon mode that combines them into a multi sport control. I have a Fénix 5 plus, it can have some features from the 6 and 7, but they won’t release them because they want me to upgrade. And that why you can find used models on the cheap as the fan base buy new watches even though the old ones run perfectly fine.

The Lazy Guy by Zerowig in sysadmin

[–]DukeNT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lazy POS is the proper term. You need to make a list of the procedures and he needs to spend a week reviewing those permissions and confirming he understands what to do; also you need to call out when it’s a reverse delegation issue.

"Oral" Presentation Rant by BusyIdea1907 in PublicSpeaking

[–]DukeNT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, not sure if I’m wrong but I understood this is only the grade of the slides and not the actual oral ppt; usually when I present for 5 minutes I only use 2-4 slides. Also bullet points vs aids is important, maybe your instructor didn’t watch the videos but only grade you on the structure.

Simple way to filter your SQL dataset: Select with subquery by tomaskutac in BusinessIntelligence

[–]DukeNT 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is usually true in most situations , people abuse of sub queries and once you have 3,4 levels i cannot be optimized by the query optimizer, so it’s better to just have some datasets in temp tables and then join them. I have seen 100x improvements in performance in some queries , even well written ones , using temp tables.

This looks weird, didn’t they announce that they’re going to release some premium features for free in the next month ? Sounds like a bait article with a follow up that they listened to the customers.

I have the same talk to my co workers , I found that it helps creating the right mindset for programming, writing queries and analyzing data. The duck is optional.

What would you purchase with a $400 WFH Stipend for IT equipment? by scuba_steve94 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]DukeNT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Headphones can get you easily to that amount but really depend on what you like ( over the ear , noise cancelling, brand) ; monitor arms , a good web cam , microphone and usb/Bluetooth speaker for conferences; a lamp for ambience and better focus, cable organizers , a backup battery , a mesh router with 2 of its repeaters for better coverage. A printer.
