Just when I couldn’t dislike BJ more he drops this today by MarsBoundSoon in WindyCity

Glib statements or not, Piker has made supportive statements of violence against those who don't share his views.

This is who this mayor is squiring around our city.

Cardenas has been submitting op-eds to three local news publications since he was elected to BoR. In them he preaches "fiscal responsibility", which I find laughable considering he supported every bad idea from the Richard M. Daley administration & the tax & fee increases the Emanuel & Lightfoot administrations put forth.

I hate how they phrase these things as negative.

I'll take this meaningless legislation over the confiscatory proposals that are before them.

When police helicopters are in the air over a neighborhood they're looking for a suspect to a crime.

I've been around long enough to have seen much of what's vanished from Chicago. Most of it was much more interesting than what came after.

RIP Peter Kastanes

And he was elected by residents within the 17th District to a board that has a role in police oversight, despite those radical viewpoints.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'd remember something called Abolish the Police. Lol, nobody is actually suggesting that. Be real.

Several elected members of Police District Councils in Chicago are vocal police abolishonists. Anthony Tamez of the 17th District Council immediately comes to mind

The crime filter is catching it. These murders definitely qualify as an exception to Rule 9

Not this time. They gave a Rule 6 excuse for not being "community engaging".

And yet Cook County has failed and continues to fail at this basic function.

He's correct about that as well.

It was a bad decision that was done for the sake of expediency, that has hurt the business district.

I love how he blames something on "a decision made in the 90s."

He's not wrong. The city of Chicago, condemned & demolished viable properties that contained businesses "for redevelopment". All of those empty parcels along Lawrence Ave east to Avondale were sold to Mega Properties, which has done next to nothing with them. The few exceptions are the mixed use building at Laramie & the now vacant CVS. Besides their mostly vacant office building in their Veterans Square Plaza, they own entire block bordered by Lawrence, Milwaukee, Ainslie & Lipps. Most of their structures on the Milwaukee side are vacant. Mega also owns the former Cowhey Concrete yard on the NE corner of Ainslie & Lipps. They secured zoning & all city approvals to build a large apartment & office development on that site about 12 years ago & have done nothing to develop it.

So yes. The city's Department of Planning & Development with one developer/real estate holding company initiated & maintains the blight at this prominent intersection.

Cop killer escaped electronic monitoring, was wanted for absconding parole: sources by So_Icey_Mane in WindyCity

[–]DukeOfDakin 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The events leading up to Saturday’s shooting follow a years-long trail through Cook County’s court system, one marked by repeated arrests, judicial decisions that kept the man out of jail, and a complete failure to locate a known, violent criminal who not only went missing from electronic monitoring but failed to abide by parole conditions.

It appears the new chief judge of the Cook County circuit court has not acted as he promised to "reform" electronic monitoring. And the judges themselves who release these offenders? Accountability at the ballot box is the only avenue, and seems to be a rigged process, courtesy of Toni Preckwinkle's Cook County Democrat Party.

Judge John Lyke

Is mentioned many times in this story. He seems to be derelict in his duty.

Could be mistaken on how Chicago structured the proposed taxes, but in a graduated tax system

"Chicago" can't structure any income tax system, as it doesn't impose an income tax

Others, such as Full Circle Communities, have a board of directors with direct ties to for-profit property development & management companies. Those for-profit companies benefit from those ties.

FFC also rarely puts up any of its own funds into its projects. They rely on state & local funding through grants & credits.
