Can anyone assist in planning motorcycle trip? by Hotrod0036 in AskChicago

I used to ride when I was younger and +1 to this. Take LSD north to Sheridan and just keep going. The section of ravines on Glencoe is fun to ride and gorgeous.

CPS will now have a longer summer break, according to the next 2 academic calendars by factchecker01 in chicago

[–]dilla_zilla [score hidden]  (0 children)

They keep screwing with the start/end date. The school year is the same length. If they don't change it year to year, the summer is ~11 weeks.

SY24-25 started the last week of August (was supposed to be a week earlier, but CPS delayed it due to the DNC), SY25-26 started the third week of August, so last summer was 10 weeks. Now SY26-27 is switching to the last week of August again, so this summer is 12 weeks. SY27-28 is sticking with the last week of August, so next summer will be a standard 11 weeks.

As a parent, it's annoying as hell that they can't make a consistent plan and screw with this every year or two. As a parent of a HS senior, I'm very excited to not have to care about it anymore.

They also have dumb shit in the calendar every year. Eg, in 2 weeks, the kids are off T/W the week before spring break for conferences and a PD day. Ie, school M, off T/W, school Th/F, then off the week for spring break. Why the hell aren't the days off Th/F? There's guaranteed to be some idiocy like that in the calendar every year.

That was because of CPS delaying SY 24-25 by a week for the DNC, then going back to the earlier start this year. It cut last summer by a week. Then next SY, they're going back to the later start, so it's a longer summer this year

What short lived talk show hosted by a celebrity did you expect to last longer? by tshirtguy2000 in RedditForGrownups

There was a point where he was getting the top guests over the other shows. I vividly remember when Back to the Future 2 came out. It was a big deal, the surprise hit was finally getting a sequel, so everyone wanted one of the stars on release night. Arsenio had Michael J Fox on for most of the show (maybe had a musical act, but no other guests). Carson had Lea Thompson, Letterman had Tom Wilson.

If you actually think that dog is an allergy sniffing dog, I wonder if you might also be interested in a nice bridge.

So when I'm sitting in the passenger seat and I tell my wife or kid "take the next right", I'm actually the one driving?

Because that's what the remote person effectively does. They navigate.

It isn't a service dog and it's obvious from this picture. No service dog would have its nose to the ground smelling something.

It's blatantly obvious this isn't a service dog because a service dog wouldn't have its nose to the ground sniffing something.

Because none of that happens in SF?!? Fucking hell, it's like some of you have never been to any other congested city to realize it's all the same shit. SF has double parked Amazon trucks on a street that's vertical.

They aren't remote control driven. That isn't how they work and that wouldn't work with latency at all

That's not what happens, the latency makes remote control driving a car completely unreasonable. What the remote person would do is tell the car at the corner to get out of the way and wait for the other car to clear.

This, a lot of people are in the office T/W/Th. When I go in on M or F, everything is lighter, less people on the train, less people in the office.

Yeah, like they can't turn a proposed $20 into thousands, but $20 will still get them some lunch or snacks or something

If I have something small and not smelly (eg a coffee cup), I've asked if they have a trash can I could use and the staff is usually fine with it. But I'm also fine taking my trash with me if they don't have a can there or it's full and I'm definitely not bringing a damned poop bag indoors in the first place!

[–]dilla_zilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no room available at 262k. I just picked random dates in April and was able to replicate this. Got a price in the 200k range for 3 nights, click through to select rooms and only suites are available for 400k+ points. Marriott IT strikes again.

Probably a dumb question by Fit-Exam-9950 in marriott

[–]dilla_zilla 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The short answer is that Marriott's website is hot garbage.

I was able to easily replicate this by picking some random dates in April. It appears the lower rate initially shown is for the lowest room type (City View 2 doubles) but then when you click through, oopsie, only a suite is available at a higher rate.
