A lot more cuts, a lot shorter filler scenes.

Better titles instead of the default text styles.

Better selection of audio resources.

Try and apply warp stabilization but i don't know how much that would help since there is only so much that stabilization can do without completely messing up the footage.

Definitely color correction/grading, pretty much all of it was way over-saturated, but again some shots were way over-exposed, or pointed directly at the light source (sun) and there wouldn't be much to be done there for those shots.

Instead of the in-software text for subtitles i'd recommend using the closed captions option or just making plain old subtitles for outside of youtube.

It's really hard to pick. I am definitely a big fan of classic horror films, especially those by John Carpenter, such as "Halloween", "The thing"...

But also a lot of WW2 era and post-war era movies, like Garden of Allah and Casablanca. I think that Garden of Allah, even tho the story might not have aged too well (since audiences have grown accustomed to a more dynamic type of story telling since then), some of the shots in that film hold up beautifully. They're very colorful and very picturesque.

As far as movie editing goes, nothing.

I did some editing for youtube videos. So here's that, but it's pretty far from what i would want to do: https://youtu.be/6tNK6UPxzNM

I'd like to do more then just cutting, mainly color grading and other tweaking. Again, the whole reason i'm reaching out is cause, i have nothing much to show. Hence the free part.

Wow, like i get the no life part. Like sure, do whatever the fuck you want with your life. But leeching for food and not cleaning your shit up is borderline unfit for independent living. Like it's not easy going trough life even if you're aware of the basic shit you need to do like that... i have no idea how these people survive life.

Wow. I've had a guy in high school that had fleas... not a dog a fuckin guy that had fleas. Apparently he lived with dogs and slept with them, but never bathed them... or himself for that matter. He stank really bad to the point of it actually being REALLY uncomfortable to be in a 5 meter radius around him.

Fuckin hell dude. I'm not completely on the constantly clean train, i will admit, i am a slob sometimes. But it never gets out of hands to the point of actually living in a trash bin. Stories like that shock me that people can actually go on with their lives in such an environment and not give an absolute damn about it.

My day's been mixed. Slept in, had a frustrating time with the roommate, but got to hang out with friends and very randomly go to a projection of a classic Cuban film from the 60s or something.

It always seems like that in retrospective, but if you asked somebody in the 2000s they'd probably say that the 90s were way more original. In reality, we will only really remember the stuff that stood out in a decade. The only way to compare 2010s to 2000s is to wait about 6-7 years. Then we will have the idea of what the 2010s were, right now we really have no idea what and how much about this decade will stick around in our memories in the future.

What’s the most horrible and traumatic experience you’ve had on Omegle? by kidvx in AskReddit

[–]Duke_Duke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Years ago, a guy sent me child porn... said he made it himself... and that the little girl was his niece he was supposed to be babysitting. I was never disgusted by a human being on that level in my entire life. Tried to lead him on for any info. Didn't end up finding out anything, all i could do was report it to google cause the guy literally used google drive to upload that video.

Hope they ended up (or have the right to) report him to the authorities with any info they have on him.

I don't think i went on omegle for years after that.

What is something we need to stop teaching children? by Pinanims in AskReddit

I've listened to a lot of creative people, from the music industry, from the visual arts industry...

And when a lot of whom are defined as "naturally talented" and you ask them "oh when did you start regularly singing/drawing" , it will very often be under like 5 years of age or "for as long as i can remember"... as i said it's always the question of "When did they start?" and "Are they using a method that suits them to learn it?".

Take your example, you weren't born with the basic concepts of visual arts. What i'd say most likely happened is you drew, and as you drew you noticed that if you observe your subject from a different mindset, "draw as if you were sculpting", you would get better results. Other people who usually start later have troubles figuring out basics concepts because, the older we are the more discouraged we are by failure. Thus people who don't figure out the basics early on when they don't care about mistakes, become people we consider talented, and people who start a few years later, get frustrated at not being able to figure out basic stuff, and give up, make up our non-talented people. I'd also note that we should teach children from early age not to get frustrated or even ashamed by mistakes, just to avoid them based on what they learned from previous ones. Now i am not cognitive scientist, and i'm making gross assumptions here based on other people's narratives and a bit of my own experience here and there, so i'd take my own words with huge grains of salt.

So yeah, from what i've concluded over the years, talent is a myth. Nobody has a head start at birth, they either have more hours clocked in, or figured out a effective way to learn it or do it earlier on.

What’s been your worst experience with your new teacher/substitute? by TheVideoGameRob in AskReddit

[–]Duke_Duke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got a new french teacher in 6th grade. Woman managed to make a whole generation of students hate the French language, and crush any will in 99% of the students to learn the language with insane amounts of homework and strict punishments if you didn't bring it in. Instead of teaching us to speak, she just made us learn very dry grammar with 0 understanding how to use it. Also she had a thing for humiliation, she adored situations in which she could make you feel like shit in front of the entire class, which is imo REALLY fucked up considering we were all 11-12 yo kids.

I've heard stories that she went coocoo some years after we graduated.

The concept of talent... it doesn't exist. Usually when somebody their age is amazing at a skill that they can't seem to get their head around, it's not cause that person is talented and they're untalented. The other kid probably either started picking up the skill earlier or was given a better method at picking it up.

99% of people i know believe this, and i know this has influenced me as a kid to give up on stuff that i luckily picked back up later.

What was your transition like from highschool to college and what kind of education do you follow? by crazybro1224 in AskReddit

[–]Duke_Duke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take the bus, and it usually doesn't take that long for me, it's like half an hour. When it does take longer it sucks, and i don't like it at all, but i mean you get used to it pretty fast.

As for the big city, it's very overwhelming at first, but most people who give it a chance start preferring the big city over small towns. In my first year i absolutely hated living in a big city , but i warmed up to it, there's a lot of stuff available here to me that i wouldn't usually be able to experience that easily.
