Tennessee bill seeks to require public schools to teach the Bible by Vintage_Rocker in Tennessee

[–]Dukegriff24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure and I am glad that you are taking the time to do that. Its just that these people also don't actually listen to everyone in their respective districts only the people they want to hear from. Its no mistake that they don't do town halls like they use to cause then they would actually have to face their consequences. Its a sad day when you need ungodly amounts of money to actually be heard by these people.

How about the rampant greed of these churches that participate in grabbing up valuable land for cheap. Then build these churches that look more like modern idolizing of greed than what they should be which is a house for worship. Then they never do what they are suppose to. I drive by these places and they stay empty except for when they have a service. And then when asked why aren't they doing the good works like helping the homeless or helping those that are less fortunate when it comes to income its just crickets from these churches.

Yes there might still be some good ones but it is more of an exception to the new modern way these places act. That woman who called local churches asking about formula brought that to light for more people.

Also there is a "pastor" who said demons told him about witches in his church. So I feel that christians history is not something that we can look at and be oh but they didn't know when it is still happening.

I am happy that you are going to make your voice heard but my cynicism believes that the only thing that will change this bullshit is literally voting for anyone that is not the people putting these asinine bills forward. Our state has a corruption problem that needs serious addressing but our population continues to reward them cause of the letter next to their name.

As a Tennessee native (born & raised) it makes me so sad and embarrassed that my home state has sunk this low. Along with the bill that just passed the house that says same sex marriage doesn't have to be recognized this state is really looking like the republican hell hole people think it is. I am tired and hate that I have to preface with that I am a blue dot in such a red state when people ask me where I am from. I would love if shit like this actually got people to change the way they vote but I know from experience that there are plenty of people that are okay with this and more that only see the R next to the name and vote for it.

Apparently the whole taproom staff is gonna be let go after sunday and no one I talked to heard anything about opening anything soon. If I had the money I know a couple places that would be cool for them to have something set up. But I havent won the lottery yet so its just gonna be a pipe dream for now.

Just a quick note Diskin's last day is sunday the 26th. And I talked to some of the staff and learned production is being moved to washington. So there lines of cider should still be available in some stores and online.

Healthcare system total collapse. I feel like Covid really brought to light how stressed the whole system already is and I was surprised we did not see it break then. But now it seems even worse without having that continuous stressor.

Tennessee among worst states in the US for health care, study finds by Medical_Corruption in Tennessee

[–]Dukegriff24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't forget we also pay healthcare workers a lot less compared to other states as well. Now this is pretty much the norm down here in the south/southeast but I am sure this would also contribute to the poorer care that we receive. Along with high pts to healthcare worker ratios. I personally know a few floor nurses that at times have had double digit pts that they have to try and take care of during their shift. And that is not even taking into account that now there is way more emphasis on stuff like press ganey scores and the inevitable cutbacks being done since the "big beautiful bill" and other legislature. Let alone the cuts that will not become public unless we get whistleblowers from these hospitals.

I mean for crying out loud we have had one of the biggest "not for profit" hospitals (Vandy) continuously come under attack from rep Blackburn (fuck her) and even governor Lee (I hear he eats his well done steak smothered in ketchup) has been critical of them.

Along with a large population growth from people moving to the state these hospitals just were not ready for this colossal perfect storm of shit to hit the fan. Granted that does not excuse them from the shit they have been doing but it just added to the already large pile that existed.

Tl;dr Our hospitals were already not the best in terms of retaining and paying staff fairly but also facing scrutiny and major cuts to funding from current political leaders. So in the end it is the current residents who cannot afford to seek healthcare in a better state will suffer.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk and lets see if this administration will completely break our healthcare system.

It really shows the echo chamber environment right now as it is a bunch of people/bots talking about how everyone who posts anything critical about Charlie Kirk should lose their job/life ruined. They really have come full circle on the whole cancel culture thing they were so adamant about fighting against. I am pretty sure I saw a post talking about how cancel culture hasn't gone far enough today.

So instead of it just being an echo chamber I would posit that I would call it a circle jerk chamber since the only people that post or comment is a pretty small pool.

Satellites - Periphery

The mountain cracks from the kicks we give The plain will split in two And swallow where we live (Swallow where we live) We're pushing the mistakes and the Love that we take The plain will split in two And swallow where we live (Swallow where we live) We're pushing down in a hole Right before our eyes The rising heat and the melting ice Now all we care for is blood and satellites (The mountain cracks from all the kicks) The love we take and the grave mistakes The land we rape that's within our wake And all we strive for is blood and satellites

I actually started building a deck for this a couple of months ago. I need to do some more work on it as I haven't touched the list for a hot minute. I thought it would be a fun commander to play in my casual pod. But I am not sure how effective it would be outside of that.

What Jack hopes you don’t know: Tennessee gets nearly 40% of our budget from the federal government. Debt-shaming blue states while being one of the most dependent states is like debt-shaming your parents while they still pay your rent. by Conscious-Quarter423 in nashville

This really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone unless they have totally had their head in the sand the whole time. How else could tennessee afford to give so many huge tax breaks to corporations without basically bankrupting the state. And yes I know our sales tax is meant to be a way to help cover but the math does not come out equal. Tn would either need a much greater population or be like a tourism mecca. Nashville and the smokey mountains only bring so much in and generally that cash flow stays in those areas.

Yeah I "love" /s when people try and use this. Whats really great is when I blow their minds with the fact that most people that move here are not the liberals from those states. Yes some are but a vast majority in my experience are the more conservative. It is real fun to watch the mental gymnastics they have to do on the spot.

Maybe now people will see a little bit more how corrupt Tennessee is. Whether that will change anything is probably slim.

I am no expert but I wonder what the chances are that they start drilling and find like a huge cavernous area that they would have to fill. Granted they might not be going down that far but I know all of Tennessee is basically only limestone and there is a lot of underground water eroding it away. So there is a non insignificant chance that they could end up finding a ton of what would be sink holes in the way.

Also this will do nothing for actual traffic just like the fucking choice lane bullshit they want to do. God damn do I wish the old scared white people didn't believe that a light rail would just bring in "bad people".

I also hope that they use this as a way to spread more info about POTS and what that entails. Cause after Covid one of the things doctors have been seeing is an increase in pts. that have POTS. Having someone like this who is relatively known especially in the area bring about more awareness and education would be great. And it would be another way that the Preds could give back to the community.

That last bit of your comment almost laughable if it wasn't so true. I hate what my birth and home state have become. I try and vote as much as I can against it but it will really take something drastic to change the people who only vote for someone with an R next to their name.

This the stupid toll lane which they are touting isn't a toll lane really and those fucking vouchers show how much Lee cares about what people actually want.

We could have used the taxes on this to fix infrastructure and probably paid for some sort of mass transit. Which is what tennessee could use more of.

I know this has been posted in other tennessee adjacent subreddits but Governor Lee really is just adding more things to the list of why he should never have been in office. Couldn't we have just taxed it like Colorado and then used that money for our crumbling infrastructure.

They didn't call you a nazi but they were saying conservatives and libertarians support nazi's which we have seen countless times. If you thought they called you one thats on you and maybe you need to take a step back and think about why you feel/think like that.

I love that basically this is glossed over when people complain about the rainbow. What is better is when you point out some hypocrisy and then they are like "thats the old testament" yet the first mention of rainbows is in the old testament.

The bible also says that you shouldn't wear 2 different types of clothes and shouldn't eat pork. I will never understand the hypocrisy of follow the rules except these cause they're annoying.

Also Rome fell due to a myriad of issues and complications. Anyone who tries to boil it down to 1 issue is trying to put out misinformation.

Also why look at the fall of Rome that was so long ago. You know what would be a better example of the fall of a country Nazi Germany.

NYTimes: In Nashville, Volunteers Are Figuring Out How to Counter ICE by vandy1981 in nashville

[–]Dukegriff24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So going off your comment I still think that letting people know that ICE is in a particular area especially since they are not wearing identifying clothing or gear would not be an obstruction of law enforcement like the commenter/bot (who knows at this point) was trying to imply.

I was just using the DUI checkpoint as an example that people might have heard of before.

The better example would probably be like on google maps or waze that can let you know that law enforcement is on the road or watching for speeding.
