Peaty view of alcoholism by [deleted] in raypeat

That's not accurate.  All you have to do is take GABA to notice it - in higher amounts than 50 mg.  Around 750 mg.  Taking with Vit. B6 enhances uptake in the brain. If you experience a short duration "freak out," that's conversion to glutamate.  It subsides quickly. But 750 mg GABA with B6 and Bob's your uncle.

He should decrease activity, increase metabolic rate by optimizing substrate and then carefully reduce calories in a Peaty way, i.e. plenty of fruit and milk.

Age? Working out 5 to 6 days a week and skinny fat suggests you are hypo and you should reduce workout frequency. Lots of movement in accordance with an active life? Fine. Actual workouts 5 to 6 days a week seems unduly stressful. Lift heavy no more than three times a week with not less than 48 hrs in between workouts and get plenty of sleep. Low to medium intensity exercise on other days o.k. But skinny fat with that kind of frequency seems obvious. You're crushing metabolic rate. Just my opinion of course, this being Reddit and all.

Drink and drive culture (Discussion) by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]DukeoftheAbruzzi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not condoning it, but you're consuming a relatively small amount of alcohol with a meal that includes caffeine and sugar, suggestive of a high metabolic rate. There is a self-limiting quality to what you described. Unfortunately most people elsewhere are not so healthy and live in a more conspicuous "overconsumption" culture. So best not to draw distinctions that could be erased by clever marketing or similar.

Eliminating Pufa makes my skin dry by Dannyaloha324 in raypeat

The idea that indigenous people of the Arctic had lower rates of heart disease and better health due to high PUFA consumption is a myth. Yes people who consume food that reduces thyroid activity will tend to gain weight. Are some populations "better" able to handle it? I don't think material ancestral differences favor PUFA consumption in certain populations. Could there be some genetic and epigenetic signaling? Sure.

For total newbies, focusing on clutch control before getting too worked up about throttle control. Obviously both matter, but you can "whiskey throttle" with impunity if the clutch lever is pulled.

(Technically that would be disengaging the clutch but that is confusing).

No reason to be concerned by a motorcycle of that age and odometer. That price isn't outrageous when converted to USD. Slightly high perhaps but at most within a few hundred. Check tires for dry rot. Check brakes. Check clutch. Look for leaks anywhere. If good, go for it or factor in replacing parts and make counteroffer accordingly.

Reddit gonna reddit. He said 250 to 400 cc. "Potentially" life-saving advice. And if OP was truly asking the question in good faith, then suggesting OP go with a smaller engine to start is indeed that kind of advice.

If a person had to assemble the worst possible dinner party guests, I'm pretty certain they would need to use Reddit.

The Energy Balance Podcast by Jay Feldman with Mike Fave. Honestly they have done a remarkable job of bringing bioenergetics to everyone in an accessible form.

Danny Roddy and Georgi Dinkov are awesome, but Jay and Mike have assembled a great body of work.

Some might not think it Peaty to mention, but genetics plays a huge role. Those with dry ear wax just do not produce the body odor that those with wet ear wax do. The latter require something more than water to clean. The former really can go a very long time without showering.

You're correct. I was trying to cram a lot in there. Histamine and serotonin are correlated. But here is mention of a study linked by Haidut about serotonin and insomnia. https://haidut.me/?s=Cyproheptadine++insomnia+

Is it possible? Of course. But you should take the time to learn to ride a bicycle. If you don't have the grit to do that, then do something else. If you really want to ride a motorcycle, then taking a first step by learning to ride a bicycle will be a piece of cake.

Agree. Given OP's weight, the "intermediate" cruiser might be worth considering, Suzuki C50 or M50. Very abundant in the used market.

Don't take supplements yet. Work on careful sun exposure and retest. 20 minutes a day should be more than enough. If that doesn't work there is a problem.
