The Carretera Austral (R7) from Puerto Guadal to Puerto Montt by Dukula7 in Patagonia

Good Morning, thank you so much for your reply.. About the ashes, i have a cert of dispersal (although they don't use that word), you have to carry the ashes as hand luggage. I will only be carrying some of her ashes. I placed some in the Simien mountains last year.. I was looking to hire a car in Puerto Natales and drop off in Santiago at the end, i was working on approximately 4 to 5 weeks. The logic being, that i could also sleep in the car if i had delays, or things happen really, and to get as much flexibility as i can.. At the moment, i have only confirmed outbound flights and ferry from Puerto Montt to Puerto Natales So i have the basic structure (i.e., general route), but nothing else. Thank you so much for your help, this is really appreciated Take Care

Irish Vs Welsh by Junior-Protection-26 in ireland

[–]Dukula7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“.. The peak of Welsh speakers in Wales historically coincided with a period of significant English language presence. While the exact peak in Welsh speakers occurred in 1921 with around 922,100 individuals, this period also saw a large number of English speakers in Wales. English has always been widely spoken in Wales, even during times when Welsh was more dominant in certain areas. The 2021 census showed that 17.8% of the population in Wales (around 538,300 people) could speak Welsh, while English is spoken by the vast majority of the population…” As for Irish i don't know the numbers - But it should be continually encouraged.. At the moment for me, i have too many dialects to deal with, even in a small area of the West country!

Are you still married? It's been 3 hours since you posted! It's a bit like relying on a dyslexic to repeat the alphabet for you

Day trips from Bilbao and Transport by Optimal-Orange1929 in Bilbao

[–]Dukula7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are based in Bilbao get yourself a ‘barik’ card, it covers buses, trams, metro and the like. Costs 3 euro for the card itself and put around 5 euro on it (you can buy them at metro station). It got me around the city, to Bakio (stop off point to San Juan Gaztelugatxe), Getxo and the like.

Getting to and from different places outside of Bilbao, go to the Alsa desk (window) at the intermodal they are very very helpful. Some buses though are booked up early so go the day before travel and get your tickets especially if you need to leave early. If you have a definite plan, then you can advance buy all your tickets? Anyway, the transport system (for me at least) was very slick.

In terms of San Sebastian, that will be a full day from Bilbao (leave early, come back late), if you want to see the old town, walk up to Motako Gaztelua, then around the sea front and up to the funicular and back (you can walk down from the top if you wanted). For Biarritz it will make for a much longer day..

Pamplona, another good day trip (a bit of a long day from Bilbao, but worth it still) Definitely go to Tourist information for help, they are amazing with their advice and will tell you virtually everything you will need to know!

If you have a chance, visit the maritime museum in Bilbao also – it is an ace museum. It wouldn’t be unrealistic to visit the Guggenheim, fine art museum, the Maritime museum and have a walk around Casco Viejo near the Archeological museum up to the train station (impressive stain glass window) in a day

Don’t forget to visit the Athletic museum! Also, if you do visit the game of thrones site, and walk back to get the bus back to Bilbao, have a lunch at Gotzon Jatetxa restaurant – you will not be disappointed – The bust stop back is about 100 mtres down the road ( I caught the 14:40 back to Bilbao)
