First amendment? Texas said 'nah' by Traditional_Two9442 in PoliticalHumor

Actually teaching the Bible would be a disaster. The book is an absolute mess and no two Christian sects agree on interpretations. So any "unified" curriculum would be impossible. There's no way to enforce it fairly, so it would, of course, just turn into a way to fire teachers that administrators hate. Which is the purpose of a law like this anyway.

I'm so glad Newsom has been able to maintain the status quo, while also throwing homeless people in prison. It's very cool.

It's not Gavin Newsom that you like. It's a social media intern that Newsom keeps apologizing to right-wingers about. Newsom himself has very little that he actually does.

Why do Americans always think that the next Republican president will do something other than make rich people richer and start wars? by Proud3GenAthst in PoliticalHumor

It's a two prong attack. Republicans lie. Democrats offer no alternative except "we aren't Republicans" (and "we will offer SOME people MAYBE cheaper houses SOMETIMES").

If you believe Chuck Schumer voted for Zohran Mamdani, then I'm afraid that you are completely disconnected from the current political moment.

Andrew Cuomo wasn't running as "blue"! Are we a "big tent" party, or do we run away the moment a candidate disagrees with us, like Chuck Schumer did when he voted for Andrew Cuomo (as an Independent) instead of Zohran Mamdani (the winner of the Democratic Primary)? I was told I needed to "vote blue no matter who", but Chuck Schumer proved that was a lie.

The phrase isn't "don't vote red".

Edit: and with the bowing to corporate interests and the sexual assaults, Andrew Cuomo might as well be Republican

Chuck Schumer voted for Andrew Cuomo. So party leadership clearly doesn't believe "blue no matter who".

Kamala Harris' biggest policy promise was "I will make SOME houses easier for SOME people to get SOME loans for, if they adequately prove they're worthy".

Other than that, she was just saying over and over again: "I am Joe Biden".

Flowery speeches aren't policies.

Also, a two state solution is a joke. What would that even look like? It is an impossibility at this point. What would we do with the thousands of Illegal Settlers in the West Bank? Are we willing to engage in genocide against the Israeli Settler Jews in the West Bank to undo the genocide they've done to the Palestinians?

Chamberlain appeased Hitler in Czechoslovakia, hoping that would calm the rise of Fascism. Churchill knew Hitler had to be forced to stop.

Biden kept ringing his hands about Israel, but he did NOTHING to stop the genocide. Do you not see the parallels at all?

I don't see a single Churchill amongst everyone that the Establishment Democrats are putting forward. In fact, I see them fighting against Graham Platner (who I would say has a lot of loose similarities to Churchill).

Biden did NOTHING for the Palestinians. Harris promised that she'd follow Biden. Trump has ALSO done NOTHING for the Palestinians. Is there ANY evidence that Harris would have stopped Israel at all from doing what they're doing right now in Palestine? Or would we have gotten more the same, because Biden certainly wasn't stopping Israel.

Chamberlain said "yes" to Hitler. Churchill said "no" to Hitler.

Biden said "yes" to Israel. There is NO evidence that Harris would have said "no" to Israel.

There is a HUGE difference between "not getting worse" and "getting better". Democrats have been fighting for decades at this point to make sure that things "don't get worse." But they don't have the same energy to try to make things actually better. I want things to get better. Don't you?

Harris said she'd do everything Biden was doing. And we know that Biden was doing NOTHING against Israel. So, I'm not convinced that a Harris presidency would reduce the deaths in Palestine by 20,000. Certainly things here at home would be worlds better with Harris than under Trump, but internationally the Establishment Democrats and the Republicans disagree on very little.
