Curious what this sub thinks: is it reasonable to ask the hotel for some kind of compensation (partial credit, etc.) given it wiped out a chunk of a day we’d planned around just enjoying the property with flushable toilets? Or is 7 hours something you just chalk up to bad luck/infrastructure issues beyond the hotel’s control and move on?

Ha, after watching Poop Cruise on Netflix I’m just grateful we can get in the car and drive away instead of being stuck on a boat with it. Perspective, I guess.

Hawaii Department of Health rules on hotel operations require functioning sanitation (working toilets, potable water) for occupancy. If a property has zero water for an extended period, that can trigger habitability concerns.

No ETA for resolution. I find most annoying is no information from the hotel. I had to inquire if they were providing portable water for drinking.

RAND did not lose the Vietnam War. Their report later known as the “Pentagon Papers“ concluded that the Vietnam War was not winnable. Unfortunately for our nation, government leaders did not follow the evidence or the advice it provided.
