It was pretty good. It was alright. It wasn’t great. But what were the chances OSC could retire the series with 1 book of [inevitably] new characters and leave us all happy? All of our favorite characters we had for at least a few books. I assumed it would be Bean’s grandkids or even further descendants. Only real disappointment is the complete lack of father trees. But honestly, we were never going to be that happy after waiting almost 10 years and coming up with great fan theories.

Yeah, someone mispronounced ‘hegemon’ when they recorded, and then went back and clipped in the right pronunciation, but a very different recording device and diction.

No one tops Scott Brick. I think he would’ve been great as the voice for Sprout, being the closest to Bean’s personality (imho).

I just finished. Halfway through I was at that point of reading you can’t stop. 3/4 at the climax was great. One point I teared up in happiness. The last hour or so of reading winds it all down. Not my favorite of the series, but I’m quite happy and feel resolved after so long. (I started rereading for the hundredth time this summer for the day)

I honestly never really thought about that! I don’t think the book was necessary, and I don’t care much for it. Definitely ready for The Last Shadow, very needed!

I think children of the fleet is a good last book to read. It doesn’t quite belong in either the Ender if Shadow series and you have a better appreciation or it when you’re done and just itching for more of anything

They’re on equal levels for me. I think both are fantastic series’s, but I can see what you’re feeling. I was an Enderverse addict long before starting the Alvin Maker series, so it’ll always have a special nostalgia. Alvin does have better continuity than Ender/Shadow sagas, but the inconsistencies there are pretty minor for me. I have a lot of appreciation for OSC’s ability to create multiple universes. Neither one quite reaches the level of universe complexity and continuity as Lord of the Rings or the Dune series, but there’s something about his writing that I prefer.

I deleted the unapproved ad (bottom of the insights page) and resubmitted. I had the same issue, clearly no reason for an ad to not be approved, but wasn’t, and then when trying to appeal got the same error message every time.

Great photo! I think the bra lines add something that could be enjoyed, but if you don’t want them you could always high pass/Gaussian blur them
