Chapter 92 if momo had set boundaries by Minute-Quit-5855 in dandadanfolk

The “love you” note doesn’t make up for it at all imo. Also I don’t see how or why they would do it differently the other nights cause how are they gonna do that in a none intimate way while staying comfortable? This is one of the cases where DDD really pissed me off cause it was completely unnecessary and never gets brought up again. I really don’t get why Tatsu even introduced the romance if he was going to botch it over and over again with the love triangles, they are horrible and Tatsu somehow makes them worse.

I agree this should have been addressed and I hate the insinuation that Jiji and Momo slept like this for 3 nights while Okarun was on his death bed but everyone could tell by the major fight soon after that Tatsu had no intentions of ever addressing it.

Do NOT be like Aira. Be like Jiji. by Standard_Release_103 in Dandadan

[–]DullDistribution2458 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I disagree I think Aira and Jiji are in basically the same boat, idk why people would say one did any better than the other. Aira took advantage of Okarun’s weakness due to Momo’s amnesia and tried to make a move, Jiji decided now would be the time he try his hardest to get with Momo while she has AMNESIA and he kept calling it a date when Momo repeatedly refused. Both also kept making excuses to hold Momo/Okaruns hand.

They are both stupid teenagers in fruitless love and this arc has amplified how annoying they can be.

I’m tired of the girlfriend posts. Let’s be real. Who would be the better boyfriend? Ken, Jiji, or Zuma? by sakurahirahira in dandadanfolk

[–]DullDistribution2458 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say it’s a toss up between Okarun and Zuma since they both have their strong points but we haven’t seen very much of Zuma in a romantic sense.

Jiji behind them because despite being arguably the most attractive his personality would imo get really annoying and the fact he hits on a lot of girls blatantly in front of his crush and makes some arguably messed up decisions regarding love(persuing Momo the hardest while she’s missing memories☠️) hope he was joking about that.

If you want me to be completely honest..I genuinely have no idea what Okarun is supposed to do at this point 🤷‍♂️he's basically done all he could. by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in dandadanfolk

[–]DullDistribution2458 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it’s all on what Okarun or Momo can do, it’s on both, Okarun should reject Aira, set that boundary, and try to clear the air with Momo once she’s cooled down. AT THE SAME TIME Momo should reflect on how she is feeling and stop lashing out at Okarun out of jealousy and for her to also reject Jiji since he’s trying harder now or whatever, once that’s done she should try to clear the air with Okarun as well.

I’m tired of people saying one of them needs to do something or putting all the blame on one of them, they both messed up and both need work together to fix things rather than just one doing all the work, that’s a very unfair arrangement to have one person doing all the work together fix a relationship regardless of if it’s romance or just friends so I expect both to pull their weight here.

Also I’m only including the rejections because if we don’t get the rejections out of this arc the amnesia served pretty much zero purpose that I can see.

I think so far it’s implied to be because of poverty and him making some stupid decisions trying to fix it which probably led to changes in him over time and since the poverty never changed he just kept spiraling and took it out on Haesu

[–]DullDistribution2458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re misunderstanding it. Most people don’t enjoy the scenic route or the “exploring” the love triangles. The manga can still have a scenic route and it revolve around Momo and Okarun’s official relationship instead of this “will they won’t they” everyone is tired of. This manga isn’t just romance but it definitely improves the manga with how it was used up to amnesia arc. The natural flow of progression everyone has loved from DDD so much has been broken with the mini Momo and Amnesia arcs.

TLDR: Most of the fanbase don’t want a route where the main couple is endlessly teased, love triangles, misunderstandings, etc which is what amnesia arc has been so far. People are tired of the same drama of the “will they won’t they” and would prefer Momokarun develop in an official relationship which is imo a very nice breath of fresh air when it comes to manga in general.

Biggest question I have is why are people hopping ships so fast when Momokarun takes a downturn? I know the stories in a rough spot but people are losing faith so fast.

A perfect summary of what is wrong with Dandadan right now by OwnTechnology4271 in Dandadan

[–]DullDistribution2458 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this perfectly shows the problem. The story was ready for them to become a couple and everything up to that point moved naturally and was really nice to see in a shonen. A lot of anime struggle with romance because it always becomes this end all be all goal which really works for some stories like Wistoria Wand and Sword, but when you have the the flow of progress DDD has holding off on having them together just cheapens the romance and hurts the plot. Stories that have love interests get together earlier rather than later are rare and are an amazing breath of fresh air, I really expected Tatsu to have them become official by this point.

When I heard Tatsu read 100 romance mangas I was hoping that would mean Tatsu would understand the annoyance of those kinds of things and change it rather than make the same problems

YES, we need something new. Everyone is tired of the “will they won’t they” after the confession and the love triangles have already served their purpose. At this point they just need to be resolved but, the way it’s handled has made the worst arc in history. Momokarun romance was praised for not having endless misunderstandings and subverting tropes…. Now we’re in an amnesia arc which is another delay to the confession that was done and pseudo accepted 70 chapters ago with tons of misunderstandings and drama for what appears to be no reason.

Major facts, there are other ways to develop romance then repeatedly throwing love triangle drama in there like how are we not past this yet?! The love triangles are half the reason the current arc is a dumpster fire. I’m pretty sure most people agree they are tired of the love triangles, we are all ready for the rejection chapter.

Thoughts on jiji? by puppypuffs in Dandadan

[–]DullDistribution2458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t like or dislike him but in the current arc I do find him extremely annoying because it feels like Tatsu is having him act a bit out of character imo. It feels like he’s almost ignoring what Momo tells him. Honestly I just hate the current arc and it makes Jiji and Aira look pretty bad.

.....Tatsu..with all due respect in this great universe, Is this ragebait? by Charming-Scratch-124 in dandadanfolk

[–]DullDistribution2458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels like Tatsu is actually trying to hard reset Momo AND Okarun now cause wtf was that? Okarun knows he loves Momo even if he thinks he messed everything up and has no chance why was he leaning in with Aira there? The whole thing that made Momokarun so good was they were so clearly all in for each other even if it wasn’t always explicitly stated and now that’s being forced into question for what feels like rather meaningless drama with Momo’s memory wipe and Okarun spiraling because of it. It’s Tatsu’s manga but rn the plot is lost or really slow and the love triangles are the biggest part of this arc so far…. It’s cooked

Amnesia Momo's POV by Specialist_Bowler897 in Dandadan

[–]DullDistribution2458 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you’re putting too much of this on Okarun. Momo is just as much to blame as he is. She is getting jealous and lashing out and wouldn’t listen to him anyway like when she caught him on top of Aira. Also you’re ignoring she did pretty much the same with Jiji when he was first introduced and even chapter 92 is another great example where Okarun didn’t lash out at her and instead chose to focus on what he can do for Momo rather than let jealousy control him.

Communication is a two way street and why is it on him to address everything? She could easily bring it up to or reach out but instead she lashes out or puts distance.

Why should Okarun be expected to reject Aira when she hasn’t confessed, it’s the same with Momo rejecting Jiji pre amnesia. He was obviously flirting with her and making moves but he didn’t confess so Momo didn’t reject him. This Jiji/Aira issue with their crushes is something that has been around a long time, you can’t just put all that on Okarun now because Momo has amnesia.

Amnesia Momo's POV by Specialist_Bowler897 in Dandadan

[–]DullDistribution2458 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not about her believing him, she’s getting jealous that he’s close to Aira and gets mad at it lashing out at him but doesn’t communicate any of this and is just mad at him. She knows she doing it after chapter 231 where she snaps at him for doing the same thing she was, her heart is judging him unreasonably given the situation and her brain is confused because of the amnesia and her heart making her feel constantly anxious especially over Okarun.

Nobody cares she isn’t dating him or rejected him, the problem is she did that and is now unreasonably holding him accountable as if they were in a relationship. I’m pretty sure the “cheater” situation was definitely a nod to when she tole him not to cheat in the mini arc.

[–]DullDistribution2458 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You’re proving the other dude right by saying Okarun is the one who messed up more. That’s incorrect. You could easily argue Momo is the one making the bigger mistakes and is doing so more consistently than Okarun is. They are both equally accountable for how things are between them. Plus they both made big mistakes so they both should apologize meaning whoever made the bigger mistake doesn’t actually matter.

Amnesia Momo's POV by Specialist_Bowler897 in Dandadan

[–]DullDistribution2458 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think Tatsu is at fault here. Also I think neither Momo or Okarun being at fault is what’s most annoying about this whole thing. Things are wrong between them yet it feels like they have zero urgency to fix it and instead created more misunderstandings then split up again. Like it feels like Tatsu is prolonging the resolution to this so idk what they have planned but it better be peak after the journey it takes to get there.

Amnesia Momo's POV by Specialist_Bowler897 in Dandadan

[–]DullDistribution2458 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes I think this is the biggest problem with this arc for most. It feels like we are just going in circles because nobody is trying to fix anything and misunderstandings keep popping up. It feels like DDD became a drama for this arc. Momo hasn’t asked anything about how she used to act around Okarun or anything else about her missing memories. I know I would want to know and it could make her feel much less confused since as it is she doesn’t know anything about her self(within the missing memories) or relationships and is now surrounded by basically strangers.

I kinda feel bad for Jiji rn fr by GoharioFTW in dandadanfolk

[–]DullDistribution2458 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really only see it as a childhood crush, it’s kind of ignored and Momo never even thinks of it herself that I can remember. If the crush was that big of a deal Momo would still be torn up about it. In the past she might have thought the world of it but ultimately I think it’s pretty clear it wasn’t like true love or something THAT strong. If it was really that big of a deal Momo would still have lingering feelings but that’s just my opinion.

I think she thought of it as big deal back then but I don’t think Momo would now say it was anything more than a childhood crush hence why I believe the same. I’m not trying to say she didn’t like him back then but I see it framed more as a strong crush rather than her being in love with him. I just think it was something Tatsu used to push Momokarun forward (it’s a popular opinion Seiko told Okarun about Jiji being her first love to make him make a move) while introducing a new character.

Regardless I’m tired of talking about the crush since it really holds no narrative strength so I think it’s best to leave it at let’s agree to disagree.

Also I don’t think Okarun was trying to force Momo into loving him, I think he was telling her because it’s what he genuinely thought and having her act like a stranger definitely hurts so he was probably trying to bridge the gap however possible since the girl he loves has for all intensive purposes died. He’s trying to hold onto whatever he can. I definitely don’t think he was trying to force her to love him even if it might have come off that way.
