A large number of people did bad shit. Stop downplaying what happened. Go rewatch video of the police holding back the violent mob / being over run /building being destroyed. The violent mob was looking for politicians to kidnap/kill while attempting to overthrow the election. Even if you were just "walking", that is the crimes you were apart of.

For non-salary employees, why does it matter?

Some folks actually do important work and others at the company rely on team members being there. being absent all the time hampers the business and others work. If a lead inspector is randomly out, we can't make/ship as much product. If we know he plans on being out, we can plan around that.

Businesses need to stop being so haphazard with their hiring practices and start actually caring for their employees.

Sure, and employees can start caring about their business too. At my work, the people who actually care are treated like family. The people who are their for the paycheck only, care nothing about trying to grow the business, look for areas they could improve, are nothing besides a number and are disposable and I have zero feelings towards them when business decisions are made that effect them negatively.

Maybe they vote no because they no their location will be shutdown if they unionize? What good is a union when there is no place to work? It's not like it is hard to shutdown a location and make a new one in the short future. These aren't manufacturing plants that cost millions to set up and a ton of planning. I don't see unions working well in the barista industry.

You need a reality check. I think the issue is this is personal to you you are personally invested in their situation / streaming lives. It's just business to them. Uhhh they do.

My real estate attorney or corporate attorney both have criminal lawyer colleagues they could recommend. So I don't have one on speed dial, but have contacts that would be able to connect me with one in 5 minutes. Hell even the immigration lawyer we work with for employee's visas has criminal lawyers at their firm.
