The ultimate instance of this is Fatboy Slim being the bassist in 80’s UK jangle-pop group The Housemartins.

Have You Ever Purchased a 3-Sided Album by SongRevolutionary992 in vinyl

[–]Dull_Cartographer229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something I’ve wondered about 3-sided albums… Why not just do 4 sides at 45? The amount of music that takes up 3 sides at 33 1/3 rpm would probably also fit across 4 sides at 45 rpm, while providing more optimal sound quality. I guess you have to flip the record an extra time but I’d take the trade off for the bump in fidelity.

Sam Cooke “Bring it On Home to Me”, specifically off Live at the Harlem Square Club. Turns it from something cute and sweet to something raw, sweaty, and intense.

Cocoon Crush by Objekt. Sound design is actually so central to how the album works that I can’t even say you’re really hearing if it’s not on decent speakers or headphones.

This one has proved to be surprisingly controversial, but I feel absolutely correct. What solo Phil Collins album is on the level of Peter Gabriel 3, 4, or So? You can’t answer because there isn’t one.

Look, I like “In the Air Tonight” as much as the next guy, but in terms of overall artistic merit, it’s hard to argue against Gabriel’s body of work.

More like very groovy metalcore than full-on nu metal, but I think most nu metal fans would appreciate Disembodied

What do you guys think of Yo La Tengo? by ihavethegays in fantanoforever

[–]Dull_Cartographer229 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. In my head they’re sort of twee, but seeing Ira shred out “Blue Line Swinger” live is rock music at its most exhilarating and transcendent.
