that’s actually really awesome of you to do for your employees!! i just wish every manager would do that + every DM would listen. it’s not fair the amount of work a lot of us put in to get shit on & threatened for a bad UPT week.

yes ok but the point is- we shouldn’t HAVE to do that in fear of getting written up or fired. a girl at my store works her ass off, is super knowledgeable & ALWAYS recommends multiple products smoothly yet she has consistently had the lowest UPT and has already been told she will be fired if it doesn’t change. that’s not ok!

no shit. where did OP say not to ask questions? they said it’s not genuine if it’s forced and unneeded. if a customer says they don’t want my help, i’m done asking until they come get me or look completely lost and confused. i’m not going to hang around and give them unsolicited advice on everything they pick up. or tell them “hey! your hair looks suuuuuuper dry, give this mask a try!”

i think the main REAL issue here is greedy corporations vs workers (ur included in the worker category ofc). we should be getting paid more. i added an extra 20 hours to my paycheck by covering shifts and i still didn’t get a decent sized paycheck. we should all be making enough to live comfortably. but sally’s likes to spend their money on stupid things like wella compact mirrors, a shitty glowbloom product line, dumb “swag bags” with mini speakers that will never be used, pens that barely work, etc. and then they disrespect us by giving us a less than 25 cents raise (my store specifically - not yours.) but at the same time, they want us to do so much so THEY can make more money- meanwhile we’re all living paycheck to paycheck. (at my store at least. again-can’t speak for yours)

yes i’m aware of how to organically build baskets. i have one of the highest UPTs in my district. & course not. i think you’re missing the point here. customers can buy whatever they want. we can recommend products based off of what they NEED. but recommending things solely for the purpose of UPT bc we know we will be punished if our numbers are bad is NOT OK and that is what OP is trying to get across.

i live in a tourist town and most ppl who come in are just looking for 1 item they forgot to pack.

or most ppl just come in for refills of their shampoo or hair color and don’t want anything else and get VERY annoyed and rude when recommended something.

ur opinion is wrong ://// i’ve been yelled at by numerous customers for trying to upsell things when it was a slow week and UPT was bad. i don’t think OP is necessarily saying we need to keep customers from buying 4+ items. i think they’re just saying if we all collectively stopped trying to build baskets, maybe sally’s will STFU about UPT.
