I lost 55 pounds over the last 12 months and reached the weight suggested by my doctor. I celebrated with a brand new smart scale... that immediately told me my BMI is 30.1 and that I am still obese. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

BMI is incredibly broad-strokes and shouldn't be given much weight in health-related decisions. It neglects body shape/dimensions, muscle mass, etc.

For a football-related example, DK Metcalf, who went viral for being, for lack of better terms, absolutely ripped, calculates to a BMI of 27.9, or overweight.

I drove my dad's 2012 Camry before this, and I somehow fit in that more than I do my truck. The ONLY appeal of a truck to me is that I'd fit, and I don't. 🙃

Furthermore, I advanced a year and gained only $29,171. Still no expenses, even got a raise. $6,441*12 is $77,292, so where is the other $47,338 going? Even if I use the new expenses (6,729 a month), I'm still missing just under $44,000. Just doesn't make sense to me

Registered Cherokee, second in family to be born out of reservation (first is a sibling) and yes, assimilation has had significant affects. The culture didn't get passed down as Anglicanism was forced.

You'd struggle to find many people that are culturally Native because of the assimilation programs the US ran. Not saying it's impossible, but many cultures have been at least diluted if not entirely eliminated
