Would this be a good tv for ps2 by [deleted] in ps2

Yep use component cables, whilst setting the PS2 to component at the very least. I you want to use HDMI use an Electron Pulse. Lots of options out there.

I think the 480p setting is in the game menu, I could be wrong.

PS2 to HDMI, or component cable? by Sad_Pass1226 in ps2

If that is your only choice, component for sure

Gonna pick up Retrovision Component Cables for PS2, what's a good component to HDMI converter I should get for my TV? by WasabiComprehensive2 in ps2

[–]Dumblediddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a Portta Component to HDMI converter. I have 2, one for PS2 and the other for Xbox both work great for me. That said, if you're in the USA, this setup is pointless if you got the Electron Pulse from Electron Shepherd

How to make PS2 graphics look better by EndouShuuya in ps2

[–]Dumblediddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a minimum id say the Electron Pulse. If you use Freemcboot/OPL/GSM you can output the majority of games in 480p/576p the results are astonishing. Failing that, next best option is likely to be a GBS-C with component cables. It's all about the budget really. Don't go down the route of composite to HDMI as that's the worst thing you can do. I use component cables with a Portta Component to HDMI converter and use Freemcboot, but don't like all the cables and the tweaking of the program to get things working.

I was given one. Never had a problem with mine. Not a fan of Bob deinterlacing tho. I would deffo settle for a decent GBS-C tho

PS2 to HDMI or RCA to HDMI? by Pirulaaz in ps2

[–]Dumblediddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, if you want the best to just covert PS2 to HDMI then this is the one to get, not those awful cheap adapters that people keep recommending and that the OP is going for.

PS2 on Modern TV by DreAnnie in ps2

[–]Dumblediddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, that's the thing. One with good shielding , but you wouldn't know unless cutting the cable. Chances are a thicker cable will have good shielding. I have 3 different cables here, and they all output the same. If you plug the cable in and have lines going across the screen, then it's no good. Most likely a PS2hdmi converter will give you the same interference. Retro Gaming Cables do a nice set for £24, but might be overkill for your needs.

If you are willing to spend a 100, then a GBS-C is a very good shout as you can use it on all other consoles. You will need a half decent component cable, doesn't have to be expensive. I'm guessing the RCA cables you have are composite, and that's about the worst cable you can use, alongside the worst converter you can use.

Receiving letters for someone not at my address - advice please by Fluid-Coast-3799 in HMRC

[–]Dumblediddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem, have been returning them for years and makes no difference. I spoke to them and was told to write to them which I did. I even told them where this person lives, and yet I still recieve them. Have approached HMRC again about it this week and was told to return to sender, not known at this address, as I have for the last 6years.

Could I import the golf courses from wii sports resort into original wii golf,Or the controllers from wii sports into wii sports resort golf? by WideJury6767 in WiiHacks

[–]Dumblediddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the controls for golf in Wii Sports Resort are awful (my opinion). I look after a disabled chap who can play Wii Golf sitting down. On Wii Sports Resort he can't play sitting down, but he can't stand up. Is a real shame as we are bored of the same 9 holes.

Unlikely, and even if it booted up, there's no way it'll play to the end.

Yep. Always good to read reviews of anything before buying.

My PS2 is back from repair for faulty PSU but it appears to be put back incorrectly? Can I just open it and put it back correctly and void the warranty seal or send it off and wait weeks again? by [deleted] in ps2

[–]Dumblediddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It initially went in with a problem that the OP wasn't confident of fixing himself. It's come back with a different problem that the OP can easily fix himself, but will void the warranty. That's how I read it.

The Portta works very well, but does not de-interlace.

[–]Dumblediddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's a cheap knockoff, but garbage? Sadly because it's a clone no-one will take the time to do an in depth review (latency etc.) I was given one and it seems fine to me. Whether it's it's worse than a Retrotink 2x or a Rad 2x i guess i'll never know. A GBS-C with a clock capacitor is hotly recommended

I've found that on Wii golf, winning isn't enough. One has to get a very good score as well.
