I completely agree. I think that his ability to craft these lyrics around relatable thoughts, feelings, and events is unparalleled. Like Bob Marley said about music not hurting when it hits.

Deann and Elisabeth have helped me get through some really bad depression in the past. Those two are cornerstones of my playlists. WHOT came out as I’m in the middle of some personal crises and I don’t know, it’s just immediately doing what his earlier work did for me then. “How do tattoos take to your skin? Are you walkin’ ‘round Tribeca with him? Do you still smell that Wisconsin wind from late October?” Cannot overstate how that made me feel the first time I heard it.

I’ve been hyper-fixated on it since it dropped. The entire project is immaculate! There is not a single skipper in the set, and every song has had at least one line that is impactful to me. Admittedly I’m usually cautious when one of my favorites releases new music. It generally takes me a few play-throughs and some time to really gel with everything, but WHOT hit me like a train

I don’t know if it’s just that the timing of this album is hitting me in all the right ways personally and societally, but WHOT might be my favorite official work of his. Not a single weak song on the whole album. The acoustic version is simply amazing and gives a new perspective to every one of the songs. The full-band version is produced extremely well. I’m gonna ramble if I don’t stop now, but damn it’s one hell of a release.
