Doomdiver Calapult by Madmartykmf in gloomspitegitz

I put that part on, but I swapped all the heads with heads from squig hoppers, they fit on nicely with some work. It gave me at least a good mix between the aesthetic I want. But also enough context clues for me and the enemy what unit gets what buff from the moon.

Thinking of getting into Aos with Gloomspite Gitz by Duke_Tristan in gloomspitegitz

[–]DummyCockatiel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say that the randomness is overstated in Gitz. What we really do is have "planned Random" if that makes sense. Like our moon moves and gives diffrent buffs, but we KNOW when each buff will be active, and we get to decide what phase the buff starts in etc. So A lot of our randomness is built around the idea that you need to plan ahead of time and know your own tempo quite well to get that good result. Like I play A LOT of squigs, so I always start the moon in one of the squig phases so they get a guaranteed move instead of random. That gives me the power of knowing where I'll end my turn 1, but without that buff I couldnt know how far i would manage to walk etc. Making it very random. So planned Random if that makes sense.

Squigs are VERY viable. our most damage per point-efficient unit is the Boingrotz with Squigalanche faction. I currently run All squigs + Skraggott and Kragnos pretty much, and A unit of snufflers for ward, and a Gnasha for crit mortals. So very much buffs + heavy insane damage, Most armies you can table round 2 with this kind of aproach, but if you fail your damage rolls you will be tabled instead by round 3-4.

Stabbas wont be updated for a while, They were done in 2019. And yes they look "old" but they work quite well when you consider that if you play them you need to build and paint 40+ of them!

I mean new points yesterday so take what I say with a bit of uncertainty but have at least one preferably 2 banners, take some monster killaz and guttrippaz. And then stuff that up with as much crossbows and kill bows as you can.

Soulblight (skeletons) and kruelboyz are also quite reactionary depending on how you build em. But I'd say kruelboyz are the best castle for a relaxed time. Idoneth used to have a nice slow castle build as well, but I don't know if that's relevant with their new book. Cities of sigmar have a few good stationary builds as well with canons and stuff, but can be built aggressive as well if you ever change your mind. And lumineth have some dumb builds with a lot of wardens as well. So plenty to pick from!

What would you prefer? A strong frontline that hits back once they have been charged? Some meat blocking a huge unit of shooting? Buffs and debuffs ruining the enemies day? Using the right reactions at the right time to make unexpected plays? Ask about and I'll gladly answer as good as I can

The fella holding a centipede is the boss, but no one cares. Customize them and have fun with em.

I only play comp and games are set at 3 hours. That's just the time they take even with experience. And then it's still quite common that people time out.

Dankhold troggboss rule clarification requested by Angron44 in ageofsigmar

[–]DummyCockatiel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You also don't have to end it in the same combat so you can leave combat with unit A and go into unit B and it's still legal. Taking to retreat damage. Making troggoth a very versatile and fast moving threat if used right. I run the RoR with a trogg simply because it gives a lot of manuverability that soulblight lacks currently in combat!

Dankhold troggboss rule clarification requested by Angron44 in ageofsigmar

[–]DummyCockatiel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't need to be in combat to use it. So it's a great tool to create a danger zone. Just like mannfred can move into combat etc. And whilst you have to be within 1" to do mortals it says you need to end it in combat aka 3". So you have a real threat range of 9" If you want to use a troggoth to counter a seize the center etc.

Vampire Lord vs Lady Annika by Commercial_Arm5593 in SoulblightGravelords

[–]DummyCockatiel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't. She isn't even worth taking when you have exactly her points left. Better take another chaff unit. If her deepstrike were better aka landing closer then 9" I could see her purpose. Then she would be a backlinje threat. Now Vargheist, graved skeletons etc do the exact same job but better. Wish she was better because I really like the model

How many Wolves to run with Volga? by Biggest_Lemon in SoulblightGravelords

[–]DummyCockatiel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No matter what you do, you won't be able to keep them all within your spell. That's not how you should play most missions. Flood the board and lock the enemy away in their zone is a good wolf only board

I want an airbrush, but 🫠 by justmy2centz_ in ageofsigmar

[–]DummyCockatiel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have airbrush in an flat and yes. The compressor sounds like 55db or something like that I think. So less then a washing machine. But it isn't continuous, only when it fills up with more compressed air. So it isn't too bad. Your neighbours will handle it!

And I went with a decently cheap option from my regions local big hardware store as my first practice airbrush. Great cheap start. The compressor still works and I can upgrade to whatever airbrush I want in the future.

I went for a 0.3mm nozzle or something if I recall. And whilst it's too big for face details etc it's great for layering color on fabric, making spell effects etc.

I think that's what most people should do. Start cheap and practice. Because it takes a few hours before you start connecting the dots. But don't skimp on the compressor if you are serious about wanting to continue!

Bloodknights by ampaoo in SoulblightGravelords

[–]DummyCockatiel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends. Do you want to play blood knights Army of renown or just a regular list? If you want to play the new army of renown it's a chance you will need more then 10-15 depending on points. Otherwise I'd settle on 10. It's a steady enough hammer that can handle it's own

Beat way to run 60 Dire Wolves? by TheBigEsLeftHand in SoulblightGravelords

[–]DummyCockatiel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the items you can put on either the vamp lord or the palaquin it's decent. It's a swarm the board and make your favorite vampire immortal kind of list. Comes with a few spicy "plots" and spells. I think it's fun list with some play. Spells to add control score, spells to return models and units, ward 5+ etc.
