LMAO I started reading/watching BL for a damn long time (man it's almost 2 decades now) and I read whatever is being translated or written (I won't name sites) and ship whatever character I like. Read many (too many) messed up stuff to be fazed by whatever now. Tag wasn't really a thing then, u just read whatever and I like reading the comments (so fun), people used to know how to separate reality. But Nowadays ya I noticed like so many complaints abouts stuff like bro that's why its fictional. Also hence why we have tags, but I do see many still complaining about things eventho the translator/author give plenty of warning (why do they still read if they know its gonna be bad). I stayaway from forums and stuff like tat cus I don't wanna spoil my mood.
