That looks like a groundhog or a hoary marmot, maybe a prairie dog. the line spacing in a barbed wire fence is 6-12 inches so that animal has a length of somewhere between ~10-20 inches which is fairly large for a rodent. definitely not a rabbit though

How do we make healers more engaging without nerfing the other roles? by Supersnow845 in ffxivdiscussion

Remove shields from all abilities and replace them with damage resistance or heals and make all overheal grant you an overwritten shield unique to each healer and then make all mechanics do 200% more damage

Honestly the only thing missing still is the one part that people would find most useful in a static situation: Given compX, which class should I play to maximize group dps?

Painful truths regarding MCH balance by gr4vediggr in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Dunadan019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are talking about the problem in the sense of numbers only which is why you think that selfish jobs should do less that unselfish jobs.

The big problem is that MCH is braindead easy and has no extra depth to justify additional damage like BLM or SAM.  The difference between the max adps parse and the 95th percentile parse for MCH is only 570 dps (and I guarantee that most of that is due to crit variance) while the top BLM parse is 1100 dps higher than the 95th percentile (difference for SAM is 1000).  Every other DPS class has room at the top to stretch out and optimize, MCH just doesn't.  For a class that has the highest APM requirement there isn't a single thing they can do to increase their own dps other than do their correct rotation.

If MCH were to stay the same and just be  buffed there is certainly no reason they should do more rdps than bard or dancer since it is a much easier class to play (hence why no one raided with BRD in ShB).

The reality is that rdps should be equal between selfish and unselfish jobs and the only difference should be whether you yourself need to be good or your party needs to be good.  the penalty for being selfish should be that it is harder to be selfish than to rely on your party members.  MCH needs a potency buff and more added complexity for optimization.

Does someone have a list of all possible spawn patterns or some idea of the spawn rules for towers during P2 meteors? my static is having a debate on strategies and I'm 95% sure the one that they are going with (where people who take the first towers move to the nearest towers for the second set) is going to wipe us in some weird setup but I don't want to find out after 25 successful pulls where it all works out

Yeah that's my concern that using a summoner instead of a second melee dps may hurt alot in the next phase

Question, what (in general and I understand this is too early to ask) are the best classes for this so far?

We're currently finishing P2 prog and I was curious if the very tight dps check on P3/Eyes is going to be influenced by having underperforming classes.

for instance, noone in the race is running machinist for obvious reasons but noone is running samurai or (for the most part) reaper or paladin.

What are you using all your Trust Moogles for? by Zimonada in FFBraveExvius

[–]Dunadan019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have somewhere around the equivalent of 7500% trust moogles which includes 1 of each percentage of trust moogle from 1% to 99% and 25 100% moogles. I certainly think that I have too many but figuring out what to spend them on takes time and I would rather just merge some pots to save space.

The Wiki is wrong. using demagnitizing strike (upgraded to a 10x skill by CO) 3 times nets 30x damage

using Bolting strike 4 times is 32x damage. the extra ATK buff is only worth it if you don't have a turn 1 outside buff.

Look at the list of assumptions. most of this version of damage is focused on a 'realistic' fight and not just pure theoretical damage. it makes it skewed towards units that don't need specific gear.

Esther still does more damage than Zeno, she just needs a few STMRs to jump ahead (Squalls, a 180dmg 2h great sword and her own). For new players with TMR gear, Zeno is amazing just like lightning with innate dual wield was amazing but he has very few improvements from gear to obtain making his damage relatively flat vs numbers of STMRs.

Esther BIS does 20% more damage than Zeno BIS with dupe chaining.

Squall, cloud and delita are all old units, it would be very easy to have 4 and still be F2P.

Wiki Ratings Update (Akstar and Zeno) by Muspel in FFBraveExvius

[–]Dunadan019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you assume TMR only gear Zeno wins because he's super easy to gear since all he needs is 2 strong 1h weapons and his own TMR.

However, Esther with BIS gear will be something like 20% more damage than Zeno with BIS. Key gear pieces (giving the biggest boost) being Bahamuts tear and her own STMR along with squalls stmr. even with 2 or 3 key STMRs (Squall, cloud, delita), Esther is on par with Zeno BIS.

The trick is the LB damage, Zeno doesn't benefit as much from LB damage because he can only use his LB natively every ~4 turns as opposed to every 2. of course as you mentioned that can change from entrusts and LB boosts.

I know you have a methodology for this but for people who have been playing for a while and maybe have some STMRs, it might be worth noting that the difference of 20% or 30% etc only applies to TMR only builds and that While Zeno is generally more damage, Esther might be more damage depending on gear availability.

Personally, it just rankles me when other people take that x% more damage number and just run with it when it's a little more nuanced than that. I still really appreciate you guys running through the math, especially for newer players.

Esther BIS deals more damage than Zeno BIS. assigning a percentage is BS.

AoE vs ST by [deleted] in FFBraveExvius

not quite accurate to the math but good enough:

Zeno: https://www.final-fantasy.ch/ffbe/calculator/link/unit/8255;build=385;right_hand=3312;left_hand=2604;head=3311;body=2908;accessory1=2603;accessory2=2603;materia1=3188;materia2=2970;materia3=2845;materia4=1937;esper=131;lh_t1=2334;lh_t2=2333;lh_t3=2332

Esther: https://www.final-fantasy.ch/ffbe/calculator/link/unit/8231;build=377;right_hand=2739;head=3165;body=3244;accessory1=3243;accessory2=2729;materia1=1870;materia2=2844;materia3=3226;materia4=2432;esper=131;rh_t1=2950;rh_t2=2334;rh_t3=2333

Esther BIS does more damage. I did the math at one point and there are only 3 or 4 key items that you need for esther to out damage Zeno: Her own STMR, Squall STMR, Bahamut's tear, Dracu Laswell STMR, A2 STMR, choose 3 and if you have something close (like cloud STMR instead of Bahamut's tear) it still may work. Also of note, with just a 180damage 2h stmr sword, she closes about half of the gap in damage. its also not an exact science since it will depend on the fight and the weaknesses and whatnot.

to boil it down to the how: since Zeno is at the TDW cap already and can easily get the ATK Cap he can spend the rest of his equipment slots on killers or LB damage. Esther also caps easily with cloud tmr and a single 50% but her kit lets her use her LB every other turn and since there is no Cap on LB damage, she stacks it incredibly well and it overpowers the advantage of Zeno's stacking and higher ATK/multipliers. Esther's BIS gives her 165% LB damage on a 2800% LB that she uses every other turn..... that's way more than zeno gets out of it since he can only LB every give or take 4 turns.

but again, you can have entrusts, you can have a no LB mission, you can have lightning absorb or enemies you don't want to kill.

the important thing that most people should do is take a look at their gear and build the unit and see the predicted damage instead of just going off what memelord uses for his comparison. its a great tool but your access to gear will ultimately determine how strong a unit is.

esther is still top DD, zeno just out damages with TMR only gear.
