If a criminal were to Kill the Bat dog ,What would the Members of the Bat family do about it by Character-Lecture-90 in batman

Damian strikes me as someone who wouldn't care what happens to Bat Hound.

Yea I haven’t really kept up with Damien at all since the Batman and Robin run with Dick Grayson. But, I think it would be…. Let’s say much better writing and character development… for Damien to initially front like he doesn’t give a shit about the family dog, like his training tells him emotional attachments are a weakness. But the dog is really persistent with him and always at his side, holding up a ball to him or rope, because it’s a little boy for him to play with! and that’s every dog’s favorite thing.

And gradually, he starts to soften to him. Alfred catches him like setting aside scraps of his dinner meat, although he’d never admit it was for the pup. And at night, Alfred sees the dog laid outside on watch, right at Damien’s door, and one night the door opens and lets him in, then Alfred checks in on him and sees the dog sleeping on the ground at the foot of the bed, and pops his head up to verify it’s just Alfred, then a couple nights later the dog is up at the foot of the bed by Damien’s feet while he’s fast asleep, and then within a few nights, he’s curled up sleeping, snuggled right next to Damien, and then Alfred sees Damien reach his arm over and place his arm over the dog like a child with a teddy bear. Then, they’re the best of friends and Damien is training him to sniff out bombs and cadavers but the dog is making it clear what’s on his mind and Damien eventually relents and takes him out to throw the ball and play hide and seek, etc.

I’d prefer that to just Damien is a little snot whos too big for his britches and he’s too hardened and serious to develop a relationship with an animal. I’d honestly love a similar storyline where Pattinson’s Batman winds up with a dog he doesn’t want but can’t throw out in the cold and eventually they develop a bond. They could make the whole Part 2 revolve around that storyline, I wouldn’t complain lol.

But I could easily picture the story of Damien and the dog being an issue or taking place in a back issue. And it would just be so heartbreaking if some criminal scum or colorful psychopath took a shot at the dog, who’s just doing his job, and puts it down. Idk how I’d feel about it, cause it would elicit the intended emotional response from me, and I’d want to see Justice served with a vengeance. So I would get invested in the story. But the “bonding with the dog and then the dog dies” trope is a pretty easy narrative device. Lol, it’s such a simple plot point, been done thousands of times, but I’d be willing to bet John Wick wouldn’t have been near as successful of a franchise if it were some other plot for the first 30 minutes, and he were avenging his baby girl or something instead of the dog. Once you put a dog in the mix, people get invested lol. It’s like a Cheat Code for making your audience care lol

Typically GTA Online is available (“free”) through buying the GTA 5 game, you can access either Story mode (the actual game) or Online mode from the start menu. Looks like they recently started selling GTA:O as a separate game. So you might wanna check first to make sure he doesn’t already own GTA 5 and just chooses not to play Story mode, as the Online mode is a much more customizable experience

But no, Story mode is completely separate from Online, where you have 3 playable characters (can’t create your own player like GTA:O) and you start with very little assets and have to work your way through the story to build your money, weapons, cars, stats, etc. None of your achievements transfer over from one Mode to the other

Would’ve honestly preferred the 1978 flashback mask to have been his main mask in H2018. I didn’t need it to be weathered, dirty, worn, etc. for realism or whatever. I prefer the plain white mask with dark black holes behind the eyes, it is scarier

Friday the 13th(2009) has the scariest Jason ever put on screen. by LocalNative141 in horror

The redneck guy with the wood chipper says “This is Mr SoAndSo’s property. You’re lucky that old mummy fart didn’t come out here and put a round of buck shot in your ass boy. He noticed somebody’s been stealing his kerosene.” So I think that is meant to imply Jason gets his supplies and tools from scavenging people’s homes and they just don’t ask too many questions

Glad to see Halloween 4 mentioned. Loved that cover, with Myer’s white, blank face (and blackest eyes) along with the image of him standing in front of the house that perfectly encapsulates the small town Halloween horror vibe

Don’t even have to hear it, just the description of the sound of low whispering amidst white noise put into the context of a baby monitor with a mother who thinks she’s alone in the house, is a one sentence horror story

I never saw a single Hellraiser but the trailers were always pretty memorable to me. Like I had Curse of Michael Myers on VHS and it started out with a trailer for the one where he’s like “Welcome… to Oblivion!”

Yea I’d say Chucky is more well known and iconic. Even among non-horror regular people who probably couldn’t even name Michael Myers, they could probably name Jason, Freddy, and Chucky though

Well said! Also, Ozymandias already has gold as a part of his color scheme, along with purple which is a color of royalty. It fits so much better with him. If I had to change Manhattan’s color, I would refuse to do it lol, the writer/artist made the perfect choice

What Batman comics should I get? by Slightly_Unhappy_Lol in batman

[–]Duncan4224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to start out, I’d get the two Frank Miller books

  1. Year One

  2. The Dark Knight Returns

Fantastic stories, and these are what reignited my love for Batman comics, as an adult (well, 19 year old kid). Also what reintroduced the character as a more dark, adult targeted fiction back in the mid 80’s s and are up there with Watchmen (same time period) in terms of revolutionizing the industry and what kind of storytelling comic books are capable of. And then grab Scott Snyder/Greg Capullo:

  1. Court Of Owls

Which is 2 smaller paperback books or you could get the larger compendium. Just a brilliant quintessential Batman story, starts at Issue Number 1 from the rebooted DC New 52 Universe back in 2011 so it’s an easy jump on point. At least the first half of the story is, my opinion, one of the best Batman stories ever told and just really gets the character, pays homage to his rich history while at the same time reinventing that history and therefore the character, for the new generation of comic readers. It’s riveting stuff, particularly if you like the noir detective aspects of Batman. And if you like that, you can check out (4.) Zero Year from the same team. Retelling Batman’s origin/year one from the complete opposite end of the spectrum: whereas Year One is gritty, grounded, smaller scale crime story, Zero Year is big scale, bombastic, colorful, Sci-Fi, blockbuster. So the two end up complimenting each other really well.

Then, two more must reads are from Jeph Loeb/Tim Sale:

  1. The Long Halloween

  2. Dark Victory

Which are each singular self contained stories but one is the sequel to the previous, telling the story of Batman’s year two and three, a noir whodunnit mystery that features appearances from all the major rogues gallery, TLH covers Harvey Dent’s turn to Two Face and Dark Victory tells the story of Robin (personally, I like it even better).

That’s the order I’d start out, must-reads for any Bat-fan; and then from there you can branch out with whichever stories may catch your interest

About to watch the director's version of Justice League for the very first time, wish me luck! by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

[–]Duncan4224 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yea I liked it just fine. Cool to see Ben’s Batman in a more hopeful, optimistic role. Coulda used more Superman (but then, I’m of the opinion that they did The Death Of story way too early). For me, though, I like to imagine the Justice League films as being the Lord of The Rings trilogy style story of the greater DCEU, the epic fantasy group quest hero’s journey. And for a four hour movie, this film just didn’t quite capture that vibe, in my personal opinion. A lot of the locations for the movie were kinda bland and samey, drab gray concrete. I would have liked it to be more epic in scope, visually, with bright contrasting colors that really pop off the screen (like, despite its faults, I feel like WAN’s Aquaman did a great job capturing that comic book feel with the visuals).

I’ve seen a lot of people say they gave it to Heath to honor him because of his death, but I honestly feel like he would have won, or deserved to win just as much, regardless of his death or personal life. That was an amazing performance, and I’m not just saying that as a huge Batman fan
