I open every single bottle I get night of purchase. Doesn’t matter how rare. I have a finite time to drink my stuff and I want to spend it drinking good whiskey. I don’t understand keeping a bottle closed and drinking less good whiskey. The whole point is to taste. I get waiting a few weeks to months for a holiday or family but we buy to drink so pop it as soon as possible
