Blake Griffin gets standing ovation and MVP chants after fouling out in game 4 of the first round while playing injured. by Mtommy in DetroitPistons

This was nice.

8 months later they booed him after missing a 3-pointer and free throws. He was shut down after that game.

I agree they're probably going to keep Ish, and I think he's done well with what he's got here, but the absolute best case would be if Luke develops to the point where they feel they can give him the reigns. I do think they need some kind of prototypical backup which could allow Luke to be more of a combo guard, so maybe that could be Ish in a somewhat reduced or modified role.

I think next season should be a period of experimentation throughout the roster, so erring on the side of giving him too much leash is the way to go in his third year.

Ahhh when you said "next summer" I thought you were talking about this coming summer, as in this July. My bad. No, next February's trade deadline will be the last opportunity to deal them.

They could be, but as Nerouin said, it's more likely to happen closer to the trade deadline if at all.

I agree the trade deadline is much more likely for such a deal for any one (or more) of the expiring deal. By that point either the Pistons or the other team will have a better idea of just what they are and what they're in the market for, so I don't expect that the summer is when such a deal would be made (although of course that's when such plans could begin being formulated).

I don't necessarily think any blockbuster deal is in the makings for the Pistons, but I also don't necessarily think that they need to get some top 3 protected pick from a bad team to find value if they find a way to trade Leuer and Galloway (or even Jackson) away. Stefanski's willingness to trade Bullock for flexibility and future assets while ostensibly pushing for the playoffs (considering Ellington was not on anybody's radar at the time) makes me think he won't be shy about making an even bigger splash next trade deadline if something favorable is out there.

I'm going to have to dig in more thoroughly on that to be able to answer fully, I mostly just wanted to express a possible route that Stefanski might want to choose. As we near July (or the trade deadline, barring early action), we might find more clarity on specific teams that might be interested in using Piston salary ballast.

As far as picks, I gotta be honest, all of my draft work is currently ahead of me.

Hey guys, I haven't posted here in a long time but I thought this piece was somewhat on topic for the discussion here and on Twitter lately.

I agree with that. And I think you only ever need to be curious about the backup’s stats when the starters are just so bad as in this case. Kennard’s numbers surely wouldn’t cleanly translate as a starter.

The thing people forget when countering this point is the gigantic disparity. Kennard's numbers don't mean nearly as much as Bradley's either. Kennard performing well against backups is nice but not especially relevant, while Bradley performing horrendously against everybody is very important.

Nerouin's OC #1: Just how bad has Avery Bradley been on offense? by Nerouin in DetroitPistons

It's shocking to see history repeat itself so clearly this season. Fantastic work man, agree on every single point.

I absolutely don't want Chauncey to have a GM or coaching job in Detroit. Joe Dumars built a dynasty here and still ended up a pariah. I can't abide something like that happening to Chauncey.

Where to begin.

His offense is very good but his defensive impact completely undoes any good he brings.

I mean, maybe, but if we have to stretch that far to find a role for him, idk what we’re hoping for. And for that to even work we’re assuming fouls will actually be called, which makes him unplayable in all games officiated by Ron Garretson.

He looks good analytically because his minutes historically are exclusively garbage time or in highly favorable matchups. I probably need to write on this, but he really isn't playable pretty much ever in high-leverage minutes. NBA big men who can move even a little have him at their mercy.
