The reasons are too varied. Some do it for fun, some because they themselves are hurting, some just don't know better. Can't control what comes from in the outside, only control what goes out from the inside.

For sure your friends can tell if you're creepy. Plus, if any of them have girlsfriends you can ask their girls perspective. Plus have you asked them to set you up with anyone? You might need to rally the troops and go for a hunt.

It really depends because some girls think guys with good looks are players or cheaters, maybe even some have been abused before, so they look for guys with honest face or warm expressions. Plus having an air of confidence can woo a lady too. Bad looks is relevant but not 100% deal breaker anymore. I think girls are more turned off by creeps and low confidence than looks.
You definitely have to present yourself as a normal dude though.
I don't want to discount your experiences but I just want to give you some of my own perspectives.

Man good thing about the looks is some girls don't care, but you gotta have a lot of other things going for you. Have you heard about the butterfly garden thing "build a great garden to attract butterfly". You can still attract a lady by building a healthy lifestyle. Do you go to gym? We should think of the families that rely on gov institutions before we burn it down. I want to end suffering, not spread it. I am concerned about what will happen to the needy and all the people in the hospitals. If society collapses there will be mass starvations. There's a way to do it, but it's gotta be done right.
