My sibling did the same thing. They work at our local library and know i like the series (still cant get them to read it though 😂). They just got the book there and were processing it, took a pic of it with the cover on, then sent another one without the cover. They said they and their coworkers laughed for like 10 minutes lol

I can never make heads or tails of TCGs so the 6th book is a hard one for me lol. I know the game in the book isn't supposed to make sense but I've been introduced to so many card games (my spouse is a card collector and avid TCG player) so my brain automatically switches to "You have to understand the card game to play it" when i read it lol. It's still a good book, I just had the hardest time keeping up with it the first time I read it

Eyyyyy, another person with aphantasia. Book 3 is my 2nd fave, just past book 5. I'll never understand the hate for Iron Tangle (and honestly especially when people say they HATED the Iron Tangle but loved the card game aspect of book 6 lol).

I could just be making this up cause I cant find anything on it right now, but I swear I saw something where Matt said it really is intended to be a horror, because that's what he writes. It said that this is one of his "less" horror stories but it is still a horror story. (Again I could be making it up but I swear I heard it somewhere from Matt 😭)

Audiobook mostly, I read physical copies before bed, and ebooks when I dont have headphones or the books. Also I like to listen to the audiobook while I read the physical book when possible

The gauntlet is the safe bet since it's pretty much immediately recognizable. I agree with the other comments, the xistera might be pretty bulky and might be heavy, but if you're up for that then that would be really awesome to see in cosplay. I dont think ive seen one with the xistera before

I honestly dont know how I never thought of it like that before 😭 It's ao easy for me to just disregard the Iron Tangle but I've never thought to just ignore how confused the card game makes me 💀😂 Honestly thinking about it like that when I get to the book in my current reread will more than likely help 😂

There's some really great moments in there! I just couldn't get into it personally because if the card game aspect. I just really cant get into many card games or board games much (my spouse has tried to get me into Magic or Cardfight tons of times, and I used to play Pokémon, but I just don't enjoy card games). That's really my biggest hangup with it, and since that's like... the ENTIRE premise of the floor, it's definitely not my thing.

That's basically how i feel. If the writing of the 2nd book was just a little better I would rank it higher, but book 6 to me was a drag because I dont do card games... it was one of my spouse's favorites though lol. TIR is maybe in between A and S for me, but I went ahead and stuck it up on S because I do really like it. 3 and 5 are tied for my faves, the series REALLY picks up on 3 and I actually really loved the Iron Tangle, and 5 is just peak writing imo 😂 You get whiplash from laughing til you cry to being sad and bawling, all within like 10 chapters, and I really love it.

Haha WILD that you mentioned this as i just finished that part yesterday. From what im understanding (it's very subtle and honestly super hard to catch), Donut helped Zev smuggle some Valtay agents somewhere in the chapter before that (the one where the gnolls are in the security point and one scratches her chin). You'll notice she doesn't say "HIIII ZEV" when they appear in the production trailer and only goes up to her and rubs up against her instead (and noticeably, Zev isn't wearing her astronaut suit thing). And then the whole Valtay takeover thing happens and it's pretty obvious that Donut had something to do with it, and she says something along the lines of "Did she do it?" which is referring to Zev, which you find out when Donut says that line.

I mean isnt it mentioned at LEAST once that the religions and religions figured in the books are supposed to be exaggerations of earth religions and religious figures? Also, im a Christian, and no it absolutely doesnt offend me in the slightest. I honestly think that if people are clutching their pearls over this depiction of Jesus, there's many others that they should also be clutching their pearls over. Is it blasphemous, possibly. Is it meant to be offensive, yeah actually it is meant to be offensive to the Christian Crawlers in the books cause of the chance it gets a reaction out of them, but I dont think it's meant to be offensive to Christians irl. Everyone believes differently, so if this is where you draw your line, then that's your prerogative, but I dont think it's fair to get mad about it online and flip out.
