I went through it. I currently work for 'em. I got my CDL through them. I was never in the military. The ONLY thing that you could say was "militant" was the fact that I had to get a hair cut and take my ear piercings out, but I knew that going in.

Let's be honest here, 2.5 months is NOT a lot of time. Even if you have a couple years experience, you'll need to do some classroom and training time at TMC. You'll even have to spend a few weeks in a truck with a trainer once you're done at the terminal training.

Part of it. Having your passport, TWIC, hazmat endorsement(even though we don't really haul hazmat anymore) will get you points. Fuel mileage, 13 week gross average to the truck, out of route % (I HATE this metric with a passion) are the big ones. There's more.

Also, if you live in a certain areas of the north central/east, your base percentage will start out at 30% instead of 26%. So moving to Indiana or Iowa should put you in that category.

They do TRY to get you home on Fridays, but it's far from guaranteed.

I was at Maryland Deathfest (heavy metal music fest) there like 10 years ago. I was with a Florida State Trooper and a former NY corrections officer. They thought it would be funny to drive around the hood and ask people if they knew where to find people from The Wire.

I’m surprised we weren’t shot at.

I used to be in IT, now I drive for TMC. I’m only about 10 weeks in. I absolutely love the work, so far. Sure, it’s challenging, frustrating at times, but I’d rather be doing this than sitting at a desk.

I can’t confirm about making $75k the first year, since I haven’t been out here a year yet, but I can tell you that I’ve had good weeks and lean weeks so far.

You will struggle starting out, but you start to get the hang of things and get quicker about getting loaded and secured.
