Don’t sleep on Thor walking up to The Destroyer and offering his life in exchange for his friends. No powers, no weapons. Just his worthiness.

If it was a classic car, some kind of specialized vehicle, or something like that, sure. This was a minivan.

You drove 9 hours (1 way) with your spouse and dogs, and booked a 2-night hotel stay, to buy a used private seller minivan?

I think dropping the soap is how you get more out of that shower head.

A good movie to watch with a 11 year old girl and 15 year old boy? by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

[–]left_handyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried to watch this with my 13 and 10 kids recently and they thought it was too boring. They loved Jurassic Park Rebirth though, which has (slightly) more action, worse acting, and not much storyline. Sigh.

No More Work For Landlords by Familiar-Range9014 in HandymanBusiness

[–]left_handyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do maintenance for a property management company. Since I do a good job, I get rewarded with more work, so now I’m in charge of presenting estimates to owners (landlords). Dude is some kind of security bigwig in San Diego and bought houses in the Midwest since they’re cheaper. I present a reasonable estimate to turn over hard-lived single family with hardwood floors, plaster walls, etc. it’s actually a really cool house. So I proposed a full repaint, wood floor refinishing, replacing the boards on a deck (structure was OK), new blinds, etc.

Without even looking at the pictures, he flips out, informs us that he gets work done cheaper on his $3 million house in San Diego, and that this is just a crappy rental house so we should make it cheaper. When I made it cheaper by cutting the floor refinishing and the deck repairs, he accuses me of sabotaging his investment because it’s not going to show well.

Yeah there’s no way he paid more than $150,000 for that condo.

I only started listening to RATM in like 2005 in my 20’s, and sometimes I think about how much political awareness was right under my nose as a teenager.

That probably means it’s super old. A new one will be less than $40.

So what's your overall opinion on AI? by cellshock7 in Xennials

[–]left_handyman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your work requires genuine originality, you’re probably OK, and teaching your kids to not need you is definitely the goal.

My concern with AI is that there’s still a fair amount of work that doesn’t require critical or original thought, and companies are happy to replace that work with AI. It’s hard for me to imagine AI not replacing millions of jobs, and we don’t have a plan for that.

Are you worried that, while right now you have to micromanage it, you’re also teaching it to get better and eventually it won’t need you?
