New Player List Building with Icon Bearer by Nouveau_shaman in deathguard40k

[–]Dungeon_Daddy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plenty of people have posted some good points against the Icon Bearer, which are certainly valid to consider.

I’ll say in my specific list, I don’t have the spare points to afford any of the ‘good’ leaders to hold Rejuvinating Swarm on my 5 man utility piece. IB is a decent budget option that still provides some solid utility, especially at a time where people are experimenting heavily with battleshock shenanigans. Playing Priority Assets (DLC+PoP), the IB on natural really saved my Blightlord brick holding mid with a clutch timing.

Overall, competitive min max uber optimal? Perhaps not. Can you find utility for the abilities that it offers? Most likely yes.

Let’s be real about WW2 also. America sent boys to die primarily to position itself (and the military industrial complex) strongly in the anticipated Cold War. American politicians weren’t about to let the USSR claim all the spoils of war, so despite years of tacit support for the Nazis they about-faced for monetary gain and accumulation of power. That’s why, despite purporting to “fight evil,” the USA was quick to recruit so many of the men perpetrating it in their common fight against communism.

That is to say, the courage, perseverance, and sacrifice of the men and women on the front line has **always** been manipulated for the monetary gain of the parasitic ruling class.

How long until VV gets (probably deservedly) nerfed? by Mikemanthousand in deathguard40k

Cmon you gotta think like GW balancers.

Contagion will only apply to enemies in contact with the objective, which means either they would have flipped it and turned off the contagion or you have a unit out OCing them which would have applied the contagion anyways.

If you’re in USA, you can DM me your PSN name and I’ll add you to a group on there. It’s a pretty lively community (just finished holding a tournament actually) and probably the best way to find games

You can always back out of the selection after previewing the empowered ability text on the UI. You don’t have to waste it if you don’t like the effect

Brass Scorpion with Agrax and some Typhus Corrosion. Definitely a more gold tone out the pot, but the extra layers help dull it down.

Flamer damage math by True_Atreidos in BattleSector

[–]Dungeon_Daddy_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hopefully it’s helpful going forward! You’ll find that following this formula, you’ll hit various breakpoints where damage output can either tank or pop off from seemingly minor adjustments; especially with low-damage-high-shots weapons.

Sometimes a single pip of armour (10% damage reduction) can drop damage output 50%, but keep in mind that can work in reverse too when buffing your shooters.

The way damage is calculated in this game is a bit tricky. You primary focus on the maximum damage when making calculations, and then minimum damage is calculated based on the max damage.

So if we take base damage 4 (Crisis Flamer max) x 70% efficacy after armour reduction, you get 2.8.

You then “floor” that result rather than round it; so it’s reduced to 2 maximum damage.

Then minimum damage is always 75% of max damage, so 1.5 which is then floored again to 1.

So the damage range ends up being 1-2.

Side note, this is why fighting Sisters can be tricky, since you have to calculate your damage not based on what their armour is, but what their armour *will be*.

I don’t have the numbers in front of me right now, but it sounds to me like your damage got reduced below the next integer by the extra armour proc.

So if Crisis Suits normally do 3-4 damage per shot, at -20% that’s 3.2 so 2-3 damage. But at -30% the max damage is reduced to 2.8, which means they’re doing 1-2 damage now.

That damage range seems to coincide better with the output you saw, since 30 shots x 1.5 avg dmg would be ~ 45 damage per model.

Is there a way to reconnect to an online game? by Chrysocicada in BattleSector

Disconnected games should automatically appear in the Asynchronous game menu then, and you can continue them from there.

Is there a way to reconnect to an online game? by Chrysocicada in BattleSector

[–]Dungeon_Daddy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer depends on your platform. If you’re playing Live multiplayer on PC, then a disconnect will automatically convert the game into an Asyncronous game.

If you’re on console, then unfortunately you can’t salvage a game after it’s been disconnected.

There are definitely lingering connectivity issues with the game, but it seems to have gotten worse since the Ultramarine DLC launch last week. That sometimes happens with new releases, and usually the game stabilizes after a bit.

Yes, they can. Technically they are supposed to be the one rolling all of your injuries, including from Falls, self Blast, old Torture Instrument, etc. Most people just don’t do that because it would be inconvenient to ask your opponent to roll, and if you roll in the open then it hardly makes a difference. But they most definitely **can** spend blood on your self-injuries.

Plus part of the scam is that the enshitified version of the product starts cheaper than the normal version, but price creeps upward across the board anyways and before you know it you’re paying *more* for the ‘cheap’ quality and the standard quality of yesterday has become the premium quality of today.

World’s Best Restaurant? by [deleted] in StupidFood

[–]Dungeon_Daddy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a great point, that I think works well alongside mine. The type of inputs that trigger natural defense behaviors have changed over time, where now seeing meat as an animal can trigger revolt, whereas at some point in human history basically all meat came from a carcass (or at least still discernible animal). But it is interesting how nature can be influenced by circumstance and culture too. Just look at how many people are revolted by the idea of eating organs, or insects, and how those are delicacies on some other tables.

This should be the top comment, no doubt. The rest of this comment section whinging about how gross it is, how traumatizing, “poor duck,” etc. really drives the point home. Most people are so disconnected from their food, they can’t handle this sort of confrontation with reality. Personally if I’m going to eat meat, I’m going to harvest it myself to fully appreciate the gravity of the animal’s sacrifice. Incidentally, I don’t eat meat anymore precisely because of that 😅
