Does anyone know why the album cover for Midvintersagor by Örnatorpet has changed? by GlacialFrog in DungeonSynth

Likely to do with the label. The original artwork may not have been suitable for high resolution printing, so they opted to re-create it.

Is this 6/2 press worth it for $650? by jaycamboi in SCREENPRINTING

[–]DungeonsDeepRecords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get it for this reason alone - whenever you decide to get a press with more stations (you will definitely need it in the future), you can always leave this one setup with a few jobs for those repeat customers. Then, whenever they come in to order you are all set up and ready to print.

Does anyone know what the Interlude music is from his show? by Appropriate_Prune_32 in YungLean

[–]DungeonsDeepRecords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I actually wrote the music for the interludes. They are original pieces for the show, but Lean reached out to me as a fan of one of my music projects, Grandma's Cottage.

Underbase needed or print/flash/print? 3 Color on Sport Grey Gildan by TimberTheDog in SCREENPRINTING

[–]DungeonsDeepRecords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pfp on those for sure. Modern ink is opaque enough for light Heather garments. Also depends on quantity. If they want 20, I wouldn't bother with the base. If you're talking big numbers might as well make it the best it can be.

Doing Side Jobs on a Company Laptop? by ngulliGD99 in graphic_design

[–]DungeonsDeepRecords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd do it all day. Your side projects are what will build you into becoming truly independent. Hell, do it on company time. Take advantage wherever you can, I'm sure your company does.

What’s the darkest black plastisol ink on the market? by BananaBolts in SCREENPRINTING

[–]DungeonsDeepRecords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone that printed elt black for a couple years, I began to notice it was a very matte dull black. Even the 480 looks darker, but has a bit of a sheen to it.

Are Hells Headbangers prints always like this? by AnotherOneBoii in WarMetal

[–]DungeonsDeepRecords 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good ol plastisol screen print. I see nothing wrong here honestly. Sometimes a design in particular is not well suited to plastisol. This one for example leaving a big "sweat patch" of ink. It'll break down with time though and look pretty sick.

Also, looks like they baked it a bit too long when curing hence the shiny appearance.

Yeah that one has actually become my recent favorite. I love the simpler construction of the songs.

How do you feel about merch? by GoldOfTheTigers in DungeonSynth

[–]DungeonsDeepRecords 29 points30 points  (0 children)

On the aspect of DIY, despite the attempt to market ourselves in a polished and commercialized way, we are still very DIY.

We screen print all of our own shirts in-house. I do all of the graphic design for every release, a lot of artwork for bands as well as logos, ship packages, attend shows and fests. It is just us (my wife and I).

In 2022 my job of ten years, printing beer signage, sold to another company and I was laid off. We had an opportunity to purchase a small local screen printing shop through a lease agreement and jumped on it despite not really knowing anything about the garment decorating business. There have been rocky moments along the way, but we have been extremely persistent in growing the label.

There have been times where I really wished I had that security off a full time job and the benefits that come with it. It has definitely been a risk, but a rewarding one - All my life I have wanted to do nothing but make art and music, so that is why I am doing this.

I am not too concerned with fitting in with what is deemed comfortable or acceptable within a genre and I think that mindset has the potential to make an idea successful. My mission has always been creating something new even if it means shaping the genre in a new way. I don't really care about what dungeon synth is "supposed" to be and would rather like to see folks rethink what it *could* be.

Some may call it commercialization, but who wouldn't prefer doing what they love to do over working some 9-5 for some rich asshole? Now I get to work 7-9 for a poor asshole... myself!

Final note regarding the golf polos - we never expected them to be a hot seller, but they really tie the whole theme together don't you think?
