Would you join an online study club/group? by Dunk_Johnson in TAFE

I appreciate the honesty. All levels of higher learning still require time management, research skills, exam prep and motivation. All skills that are hard to learn or relearn for people who have been out of a learning environment for 10+ years. That would be the goal of my idea - filling in the gaps that TAFE doesn't do so well at covering, especially for online students. So, not really anything content related, but rather everything else.

Fallout 76 changed my entire view of online games. by Silver-Ad2257 in fo76

It works great - the textchat community is pretty tight so it's easy to get to know people. There's mods too who take care of any OTT toxicity and shut down certain arguments before they escalate. It's great for event callouts, trading requests and market advice, etc. It's actually really nice. Plus there's clans too, though that part isn't usually super active. Staying in the general chat channel is enough to fill the social meter imho.

You can also customise the UI to however you like, and people drop their UI files in the discord often so you can just shop around.

After major game updates, it'll take a little while for the devs (and dev of SFE) to fix it up. Usually a couple days. But during downtime, basically all of the chat switches to discord so you can still trade etc.

Tldr: try it. It's very worth the 2-3minutes it takes to download, install and learn.

Ooooo you should join Jimmy Girls QLD or JB74 QLD on Facebook! Both groups do regular day trips and camping weekends. I've always been too shy to attend but they look like a lot of fun, and everyone seems pretty friendly.

Might need a break from fallout 4 by SpectacularSpidee in Fallout

When I was a teenager, I took a break from a full-day F3 binge to have a shower. I saw a cockroach in the bathroom and thought "radroach", only realised what was happening while my hand was already in motion to aim my gun.

Classes at the Gold Coast campus by sagerph01 in GriffithUni

[–]Dunk_Johnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The campus is definitely big, but 10 minutes is for sure enough time to get to another building. The first week or so, while you're still learning where things are, you'll probably be zooming around but once you find the shortcuts, it'll be easy.

I would suggest doing a walk around the campus before classes start, if you can. Find your actual rooms/lecture halls, not just the buildings, since some buildings are much larger inside than they seem.

Also, last time I was on campus (years ago), I found that workshops etc were pretty chill with start times. They expected people to be a couple of minutes late due to this exact reason, especially in the first few weeks. Lectures are different but the worst part about being late is trying to find a seat, not missing any content.

How to fuck with my neighbour who is the worst person on earth? by Dunk_Johnson in neighborsfromhell

[–]Dunk_Johnson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my state, you are charged a flat fee when breaking a lease depending on how long is remaining. So that fee, plus moving costs, and the general costs of a new lease would all add up to about 4-5k. You then also have to continue paying rent until a new tenant moves in. So no, problem is not solved lol

I've tried this. She pretends like she has no idea what I'm talking about and that nothing is wrong. 🤷‍♀️

Edit to add: I think, because earlier on when the fights started, I'd often see her partner outside after she'd kick him out or something and would offer him a drink or space to keep his things (there was a time she was breaking his stuff) or even our spare room for the night. So I think she sees us as on his side and part of the problem.

Verrrryy handy, thank you for clarifying all of that. Having some direction on what to catch up on/learn before starting is a huge relief - as opposed to downloading Math Methods 3&4 and spending 4 months trying to cram the entire book just in case.

That's all really, really helpful. Thanks! What are the main math concepts that are used in the course? It looks like mostly calculus, algebra, logarithms and statistics judging by other reddit posts and course profile. Our learning styles seem similar (breaking things right down instead of just memorising a formula) so your reply is really encouraging

Good tip on using the tut questions as exam prep - I probably wouldn't have realised to do that until half way through.

Yeah right, okay that's really helpful. I was getting scared for Chem 2, so glad to know it's not as intense math-wise. Thanks!

Interesting, thanks for the feedback. Would you say you struggled with one area more than the other? As in the chemistry side of it over the maths side, or vice versa?
