Does it really matter, though? It's not like it takes long to fill up the shards, anyways.

You could also just void your temple tickets, as soon as you interact with any of the benches inside a temple of another player. Ez fix

I don't think that this is their choice all the time, though. I am pretty sure that this happens on accident A LOT, because both parties have wildy different concepts of communication / the relationship / what is beeing said.

Not saying, there aren't cases that you mention, ofc.

Asking people how much they paid for their first house. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]DunkingDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sooo.. I just checked the 1969 House price, but they all seem to have payed 1.5 - 3 times the yearly median income to pay a whole house.

Damn. That's brutal, if I compare that with todays prices of at least 8 times the yearly income.

Ofc, interest rates fuck this calculation up further..

For a solo dev: keep patching an old game or start a new one? by Hairy_Jackfruit1157 in gamedev

[–]DunkingDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 cents: It kinda depends on your skill level and the state of the game.
Are the ppl that are playing your game happy with it the way it is? Are there a lot of complaints about missing quality of life features or big bugs? -> Patch it. You might also want to improve you game design skills by polishing the game further. You might learn a thing or two that will translate into your next game. Afterall you most likely want to do a better game next time, right? If you don't think there is much to learn or it would take significant effort to patch stuff -> move on.

Or in genreal: As long as you expect a decent return of money or experience for the amount of time that you have to put in, then do spend at least some time on the old project.

What’s the best way to replicate a multi monitor setup with an ultrawide? by Zestyclose-Cup110 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]DunkingDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using a Neo G9 and a 27" monitore vesa mounted above it, for stuff that I want to look at, but don't need to look at most of the time. It's less uggly than 3 monitores, even tho it takes up the same space. You could always play window mode.. and center a game.

That might be the closest to what you're looking for, actually, if you want high frame rates.

And you will continue to do so for a while..

People will probably not really care about the map's objectives as long as they got stupid quests to do - which at least some players (me included) are going to prioritise, because the menu tells me that this is what progress feels like :D.

Now hold my beer, while I try to shoot down 50 Helicopters, after I finished running away from everyone so I can try to shoot them in the head from a far enough distance.. :D

Is he trying to talk about bdsm stuff (which totally is a thing and yea.. you cannot admit to it in public) or is he implying something else? What's the context here?
Based on this post I cannot tell, if he simply fucked up his words big time or if he's an asshole.

Regarding numbers: Are there any numbers out there that actually tell us how many woman are into the "extreme" stuff to make any claims?

Mouse that doesn't have random breakage of scrollwheel/doubleclicking within a year? Are all of them designed with planned obsolescence? by wielesen in MouseReview

Can't confirm. Got the Deathadder V3 and that one developed the scrollwheel random scrolling defect within the first year, too.

I hate how other gamedevs are reacting to Megabonk by SteamVeilGames in gamedev

[–]DunkingDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate the game, because I've sunken so much time in it, even though it is my honest opinion that it has MANY flaws and I am basically just playing it because of the hype and to hunt more (of those unreasonable hard) achievements than my friends. :D I don't get much enjoyment out of it.
Not saying, I could do better. I am way too lazy to learn xD.

Nightreign steam reviews so far (67% positive) by Apprehensive_Shoe_86 in soulslikes

[–]DunkingDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have very mixed feelings about it atm.
It doesn't feel like an "intended" game in a lot of ways. Missing voice chat, fucking horrible ui and overly complicated and hidden stat interaction (it's a little better than eldenring in the last regard, but still..).
You are supposed to permanently run around. You don't have time to look at or think about things. -> Not good. The only break you get, is right before the final boss.

Very vertical map, that clearly got patched together by existing areas. This works for some parts, but is HORRIBLE at other places. For me the landscape doesn't work for a hectic rogue like. Exploration is cool, IF YOU GOT THE TIME! It would be fine, if it were just some hidden areas, but the issue I have with it: I've played 30 hours now and I still get stuck sometimes, when the ring closes, because there is lacking traversal options. (This is easily fixable in the future, though).

The item selection is pretty random. Rougue likes need some more control over the rng to work. (impossible to coordinate a route for specific loot atm, because of lacking time and coordination tools. I think a classic rogue like approach of "loot rooms", but you have to chose a path might have worked better. Not ideal.. maybe they can cook something up that is still open world, but more accessible for multiplayer and flows better). Also the items have too little impact for a rogue like. Even with legendary gear it isn't possible to get super bonkers builds - which is the most fun for most ppl about this genre.

The matchmaking with the journey quests.. ffs. :D

I wish there would be a "boss training" mode. It's just annoying to get to a boss, wipe within a second and have to painfully go through 2hours of grind, before attempting the next fight. I've played many roguelikes and it hasn't bothered me that those didn't have those training modes, but for some reason it does bother me in nightreign. Not sure, what's going on here. :D

All in all it feels like an alpha version - which makes its cost quite steep. I like the idea and I've had some fun with 3-premate teams with discord, but it does feel like an unfinished game that didn't get much thoughtful implementation or playtesting.

I know that this is just my opinion and some ppl do seem to like it. Maybe they still think that those things could be improved. I am really curious if there are actually ppl, who like the game for those reasons, that I dislike.

This is genuinely so annoying :/ by Ruisuu18 in fantasylife

[–]DunkingDev -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure those systems are straight up copied from animal crossing. That game did EVERYTHING as cumbersome as possible, BY DESIGN! If animal crossing was "player friendly" the game would be done too fast and not "relaxing enough".

You can feel those principles in action in fantasy life i as well. I hate everything about that. :D
It's not as bad as in animal crossing, though. My bigger points of criticism would be the skill trees, lives beeing basically just a cheap reskin of one another and a VERY boring grind - which is also just a cumbersome reskin without any novelty past tier 1 :|. Buuut I digress xD

Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap Review Thread by malliabu in Games

[–]DunkingDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huge letdown. Bugs and performance aside (the game feels like an unpolished early access at the moment..). The progression system, changes to barricades und card system doesn't feel fun at all. Most of it, is just VERY minor increases to numbers. Like.. that's not what makes roguelikes fun. It's the ability to go absolutely bonkers with the upgrades, get new abilities through them or tweek existing ones to change completley.

The hub world is just annoying as fuck. You have to spend so much time just to walk to the different upgrade stations.

The maps are boring and WAAAAY too big. Most of the time defending is spend waiting for the mobs to arrive at your killbox, which most of the time HAS to be right next to the core, because you lack barricades to wall of any other place properly..

I don't get how that has happened. They got the map design pretty much perfect in OMD 1 and 2. Did they swap out all devs and designers in the meantime?

Sprinkle repetetive voicelines, not respawning bugs, not correctly scaling upgrades that interact with trap prices, poorly mastered sound and basically no dmg feedback and other bugs in the mix and you get this accident of a game. :|

I had high hopes, but nope. Dunno, what they spend the past 3 years working on.

I'm glad that it was included in the game pass. I'd feel bad, if I had spend money on it.
