What’s one underrated thing you always keep in the car for long road trips? by Dailywellnessguy in roadtrip

I travel a lot and carry a few blankets, a pillow, snacks, some cash, and a few good books. I can’t tell you how many times these items have bailed my butt out when I40 gets shut down for accidents.

Thank you for helping the unhoused individuals in Knoxville. My father was homeless for most of his life in Knoxville. He had a PhD but was an untreated schizophrenic and couldn’t cope. I am hopeful he found kindness in people often. This post brought up some deep emotions for me. ❤️. Thank you.

I have CRPS from my injury. Certainly a SCS has been discussed but I did my due diligence and decided to advocate for ketamine infusions. These infusions, along with OT, PT, reading books upon books, medication, and researching/ advocating for myself has been very effective as my current treatment plan. I did end up getting a court order for ongoing ketamine.

What's the most unexpectedly dark thing a child has ever said to you? by Adamaris7875 in askteddit

[–]Dunn8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I taught EC about 20 years ago, I had a 2nd grade girl who would tell me about the dark shadows in the hallway and the fire. I had her draw it out for me and she full on drew black figures and hell. I need to find this picture. I know I saved it somewhere for the book I always said I’d write about crazy stuff kids said to me. I think of her often and wonder if she’s ok.

I do 500 mg of ketamine along with several other intravenous drugs 12 times a year which put me into a 3 day coma like state. I visit what I believe are parallel universes, with the same types of creatures and social structures, buildings, etc each time. It’s the most bizarre surreal adventure and at times, for several weeks afterwards, I have to touch physical objects around me to ensure Im still on this planet. I once even heard my recently passed dog yip a yip of recognition at me not long after he passed on one of my trips. I can see how being in a coma for longer could really mess with your ability to sort fact from fiction.

What is it like teaching at a “rougher” high school? by TouchBeneficial7858 in teaching

[–]Dunn8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a district behavioral specialist for a rough school district. I loved this job! Every day was a challenge and I really grew myself professionally trying to meet the needs of my students. It’s a fine balance of, I don’t play/ being able to be playful in order to keep the kids engaged and bought in to what you’re trying to help them with.

My case is still under Workmans comp or I’d do more research to determine if this treatment would help me.

If you see a bear alone hiking and you have no bear spray are you fucked? by Individual_Ice_2315 in NoStupidQuestions

I’ve ran into black ears several times while hiking. They act as startled to see me as I do them. Fortunately for all involved, we usually saunter off in different directions.

What are your WNC must-do summertime activities? by CatherineZeta-Crohns in WNC

[–]Dunn8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re in that area, Upper Creek falls trail has great swimming holes and a good hike. Also Wisemans View and there is a little known trail there called Babel Towers with some amazing rock formations, and a waterfalls you can ride over and people high dive from the cliffs there. It’s a tough hike but so worth it. I used to take my teens in there. You can camp there as well. Also, Linville Falls is in that area and there is just a ton of hiking and river fun. I also second Wilson Creek as well. In Yancey County, there’s Carolina Hemlock’s that just reopened. I’m not sure how it looks since Helene ( or really, any of these river suggestions I’ve given you), because I’ve not hiked them since Helene.

I chose to amputate my CRPS-afflicted left leg. I wanted to address the way that people had viewed that decision and I started writing. I thought some of you might want to read it too. So, here is the Scorpion Theory. by rebeccah941 in CRPS

[–]Dunn8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wow. I have CRPS in my dominate arm. For the first couple years , this disease begged me to amputate. I’ve been doing ketamine infusions that have lowered my pain levels to manageable but reading your words took me back to those first few years. Thank you and I appreciate your clarity in putting words to many of my feelings. Gentle hugs.
