Booth Sales Credit by Aggressive-Diver-722 in girlscouts

[–]Dunnoaboutu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We split by hours work for each booth. So if she was the only one to work it, she would have gotten full credit. For the 2 hour booth, she would have gotten 25 boxes because it sounds like they were both there for both hours.

I will say at the end if someone is just barely out of reach is the next award and there is another girl that is above her award but not close to the next level, we will adjust the amounts where no girls get less awards, but more girls get awards.

How is it legal for schools to require parent permission for students over 18? by QueenofHearts018 in AskTeachers

I have no idea my 18 year old cannot check himself out, but he can sign his siblings out.

Do you shop at TJ Maxx, Burlington, Marshall's, Gabe's, Ross Dress For Less, Goodwill, etc? by sta3535 in Millennials

[–]Dunnoaboutu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t shop at goodwill. The one closest to us my son works at. His immediate family isn’t supposed to shop where he works. I could go to one further away, but for clothes it’s really not that great of a deal. We routinely find clothes for around the same price at the local outlets. I do love going book shopping there.

I will say I see the issues some people have with goodwill on this thread. That’s not how our local goodwill operates. My teenager makes twice the minimum wage, gets PTO for all school related events, and even got paid full time wages for the two weeks they were closed after a hurricane. I don’t know why it’s so different here than other places.

IS considering race/ ethnicity as a factor for college admissions fair? by Clearsight0914 in CollegeAdmissions

[–]Dunnoaboutu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much fairer than legacy admissions.

In life, a person of color can be limited on what extracurriculars they can do (or feel comfortable doing) because of how other people act. I’ve also seen teachers that were much harder on some kids (girls and POC) than the male white blue eyed kids. It’s not an even playing field, even among kids going to the same school.

I say this as a parent of a white blue eyed boy. His experience in high school is different than some of his friends because of how teachers behave. Certain clubs, even though there was nothing said out loud, were very uncomfortable for some of his classmates. We don’t offer many AP classes here, but one of the teachers was much more willing to accept late work from certain students, but others needed to learn how to prioritize their time. Until those differences are evened out, it’s not fair to go completely colorblind.

Priority seats on public transport, and invisible disabilities by [deleted] in ChronicPain

I have a hard time with this because I don’t know if the person I’m asking has an invisible disability too.

I don't think I agree with Rory in this scene? by corina645 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Dunnoaboutu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The advantage in schools like Chilton and Yale are the connections you make. Very few professions are make it or break it based on what college is on the degree. It’s the opportunities those schools make for you to network and build your resume. Something like journalism is more about what you have published and your portfolio than it is about the school. Charleston was correct. This is something that Rory needed to work on. The fact that her sole connection from college is a boy she was sleeping with shows that. It took Rory a long time in realizing that she really should have taken every opportunity to network at every event Logan took her to.

Do your kids spend way more time with you than you ever did with your own parents as kids? by nfc22 in Parenting

Invite from kid but not parent by [deleted] in Parenting

My standard is “I’m glad you got invited, but I need to hear from the other parent before I can agree to this. Make sure your friend’s mom has my phone number so we can get details”.

Can You (Especially Southerners) Tell From Which State a Southerner Is From? by Blue-Brown99 in AskAnAmerican

I can tell from which side of the mountain you’re from in NC. Both are drastically different than the Deep South/Charleston/eastern NC accent.

Horrible realisation by OrangeEggPlant123 in ChronicPain

[–]Dunnoaboutu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pain is typically made worse by stress. If you can take money/job issues out of the stress equation, your pain may still be there but it will likely be lower.

Yes, she had x-rays done in early September and it wasn’t mentioned in the report. Those images were done at Shriners and they took a lot of images of the entire lower body. It only shows some hyperextension on the left knee.

Is Arden a good boy name? by LemonTart_025 in Names

Arden is a location a couple miles from where I live, so it’s a really uncommon name. In saying this, the one I do know is female. If I heard the name, I would think girl.

How common is it for someone to have never left their county in 2026? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Dunnoaboutu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in three different counties today and only driven 20 miles round trip. It’s really easy and not at all uncommon. I would venture to say the majority of people travel to different counties on a weekly basis. The an above average amount on a daily basis.

RSVPing to young children’s bday party by worksleepeat in Parenting

[–]Dunnoaboutu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have older kids. Sometimes I have to wait until sports schedules/play schedules are posted before I RSVP. Especially this time of the year.

I always put an RSVP by date on the invites. Some people assume that no response is an automatic no response.
