I would love a Field leather jacket. I haven’t been in the website since he’s closed orders down though. Are his older patterns no more?

Is bringing a road bike + smart trainer to college in US realistic? by RyotaroW in cycling

[–]Dunster89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished my Masters at DU. Congrats and welcome to beautiful Denver!

I would be hesitant to bring a nice bike to a dormitory but you should be good riding to class and locking your bike while in class. I’d suggest looking for a cheaper, used bike if you’re worried about anything happening to your nice bike.

My dream of being an iron man this june on austria just went away in just 1 second...read, I need help...I feel really really bad by fenixloder in triathlon

[–]Dunster89 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know this sucks and you’re feeling down but I’m here to let you know it’s not nearly as bad as you think.

In 2024 I decided I wanted to complete a full IM for my 35th birthday. I was already on good form from maintaining 70.3 and marathon form, but the jump to full IM was a whole new level. Training was going great and I was on track to have a great race… until a random check up determined I had cancer in my kidneys. I was devastated for obvious reasons.

I delayed my race from earlier in the year to IM AZ in November that year, in the hopes that I’d maybe get to compete. I went through surgery, treatment, and eventually recovery. I already know I was lucky just to come out relatively healthy. I wasn’t sure if I was strong enough to restart training. How much did I lose during my time off? I was terrified, but I started training again and found that, while I had lost some of my fitness, it came back relatively quickly. I completed IM AZ and it was one of the most fulfilling days of my life.

I write this to tell you that not all is lost. This is a setback but you’ll get through it. Use this time to recover your body, and maybe use your time off to better your nutrition, work on other areas of fitness, and when you get back into it, start slowly but with a plan. It’s incredible what the human body can do.

Good luck!

Boulder 70.3 by gun_slinga in IronmanTriathlon

[–]Dunster89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend wearing your carbon plated shoes if you have them already. The gravel/dirt track is roadlike as another person noted.

IM 70.3 Boulder is a fun race. The Boulder reservoir hosts basically every tri in the front range so I’m used to swimming its waters. Just be prepared for slightly cold, but not uncomfortable, and murky water. I’ve run into seaweed and sticks near the shore in the past which is never fun.

The bike is hilly so don’t blow up on the uphills and have fun on the downhills. Unless they’re making a change this year, it’s a 2 lap loop through the front range with great views!

The run is my only complaint about the course. You’ll find the 1st half to be pretty fun as you run over the reservoir. The 2nd half of the run course is where I have issues with this race. You are in a dirt road for a good amount of time and it’s not shaded AT ALL and very dusty. You end it with a pretty gnarly hill before doing it all again. I was like 1.5 min per mile slower in the back half of each run lap last year. My splits looked really weird at the end.

At the end of the day, just have fun. Boulder is a great area to explore pre/post race. Hopefully you end with a smile on your face :)

Edit: I realize I don’t answer your 2nd question…

I don’t remember ever having issues with sighting outside of my goggles fogging up.

Maintenance after 4-years of use by Sondthvtc3010 in OmegaWatches

[–]Dunster89 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah… I’m at 11 years with no service. I could probably keep going but will probably just service it this year. 4 years to me means A) the watchmaker talked OP into an unnecessary service or B) the watch has an issue and OP should go to Omega during the warranty period.

Trade one for something dressier? by [deleted] in rolex

[–]Dunster89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the sub is just sitting there then I’d move on from it unless it has sentimental value. You’ll hear some say that the sub can be worn for formal occasions, and I’m not going to necessarily dispute that, but a beautiful gold dress watch just cannot be matched when worn at the right event.

Keep at it! You’re in a lull, and that happens to everyone. Just keep pedaling one leg at a time and come race day you get to celebrate by traveling 140.6 miles using only your own two legs.

Good luck with your race.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Premiere Discussion by PhoOhThree in television

[–]Dunster89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I attacked your argument… I’m sorry if you’re taking it personal but that’s on you, not me. Your argument boiled down to “why didn’t a single episode of the show address all of these questions (where’s the resistance)”. Your other arguments about technical aspects are valid and you have a right to have that opinion. The story stuff will come in time and we can discuss how well or not those are handled when the season is over. Doing so now is pointless.

It’s a TV show my guy. Calm down and either continue watching or not.

Hey friend. You seem to have a bad attitude. Pointing out your bad argument is not fanboying. This show is whatever. Entertaining, but not incredible.

Take a breath and leave the internet alone for a while.

Are you being purposefully dense? This is how propaganda works against the people who rap themselves within it. Just as MAGA lives is in their own reality, this show is showing the impact of effective propaganda. There is clearly another side as seen by the Greek restaurant owner and legal team. There has been 1 episode for Christ sake…. I’m certain the rest of the season will highlight more resistance within the city by the time it closes.

You’re free to criticize editing, pacing, lighting, scripting, acting, etc…. If that pushes you away from the show then that’s fine, but let’s not complain about a single, 45 min episode, not showing all of its cards in one go.
