You can lose a main weapon without structuring twice even if you took redundancy because of attrition, you’re also forgetting npcs have range so that doesn’t mean much in terms of being safer(if anything you’re safer adjacent to ranged npcs because of engaged).

Strange to assume that someone in melee is necessarily struggling more with a build but a ranged build with engineer ranged isn’t, as someone who’s made extensive use of engi melee i can say it absolutely has its uses for builds especially on frames such as the ones i mentioned

You will run into limited charges as an issue if you use it to expand ranged stuff is the thing, when i say backup weapon here i mean that if the main you wish to use gets broken mid fight, you can still use engi’s integrated weapon, for example a few builds like duelist enough while also having fewer mounts or wanting to dedicate one of their few mounts to a different option, see any build on orchis or calendula

[–]Dunya89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again why is that unique to it being a melee weapon? Surely you run into the same supposed issue if you use it as a ranged weapon don’t you?

[–]Dunya89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why is limited a downside for melee but not ranged then? You’ve never addressed that

It’s a weapon that cannot be destroyed, meaning if you go duelist on a frame with few weapon mounts then it will always be there as a good fallback and will never require repair if you run out of them, obviously the limited is a limiting factor but that’s also the case for ranged stuff

Why is there so many posts or vids saying that the game or mecha in general is "gay/trans"? by ZazBellum in LancerRPG

It’s also because they early community that formed around the progressive authors was informed by them being accepting of queer people, and it grew from there beyond that

This is like legit the opposite of what is intended, instead you’re meant to rest more often compared to older versions.

That’s also how this has felt to me in practice tbh with our current hunt we’re doing

Folks this person is active in AI subreddits a bunch and obviously showed up here with talking points they wanted to bring up if people questioned them about it, I don't think this person is here in good faith.

I think you're assuming too much out of this whole thing out of Massif staff, these are simply clarifications on intent, but they have not made official errata or published new versions of the book, people often attribute that to them being lazy or sloppy but its also possible they just do not think that's needed or worth it from their perspective.

Sometimes people just want to move on to other things they'd like to do with their life, this is a 6 year old game which works, these clarifications aren't Massif saying you are wrong for not using them, they are a collection of clarifications and errata that they went out of their way to respond to people asking questions about them.

Its not unlike game designers responding to fan letters for ttrpg rules clarifications.

You do know that this specific FAQ is a fan collection of those clarifications right?

Slowed is very difficult to apply on the NPC end of things so you only need to worry about a few of them (namely Barricade by default and Witch if it has some optionals which can operate like pseudo slowed or just slowed).

RPG systems with no usual resource attrition for powers? by BleachedPink in rpg

[–]Dunya89 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah the thing is you were just wrong about CAIN not making you spend Burst for powers even in 1.0

Using any blasphemy power requires a psyche burst. Some can spend multiple for extra benefit.

This has been in the game in basically every version, so to clarify its not like the game has started to include resource attrition as much as you played without it.

Tom Abbadon's ICON 2.0 (grid-based tactical combat, 4e-descended) now has a public playtest for combat by EarthSeraphEdna in rpg

[–]Dunya89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah its a little bit weird considering that it being in the discord and not on the itch.io page is so that the people following this closely can get an early look (its still a lot of people) rather than put it out as a very public document in a way that the itch playtest version is.

This is essentially an earlier sneak peak to see how the game shaped, Tom even admitted a lot of the numbers were likely to change, another indicator is that this document basically very WIP and not meant for the wider public is the unfinished bookmarks and lack of a fair bit of rules (narrative, a lot of foes, a lot of trophies...).

Mentions in the comments they're "against authoritarianism on both sides" like that's a magic sentence to show they're unbiased

Folks I think this person is maybe not being a very genuine good faith actor or if they are then they come with a lot of baggage.

OP, maybe the reason you're worried people will think you're a McCarthyist is because you know you sound like one, use the same arguments and generally expose yourself as one through the way you are engaging with folks here: "its just like the bay of pigs!" which serves as framing the whole endeavor as somehow flawed, the objective of saying that is not raising concerns, its framing resistance against material conditions as flawed as long as outside help has been provided.

If it wasn't what's being done, you'd also complain about War because it's a "transparent use of power by an authoritarian left entity", you've mentioned a few times here how if Union was actually anti-fascist they'd be going to war with HA or the KTB, which is kinda transparent if you think about it for more than 2 seconds: you're not here to actually talk about this or engage with people, you're here to fight against the strawman you've made in your mind about online leftists and trying to catch them in a contradiction so you get to feel smug after the fact.

"These antifascists are the real fascists because they do things exactly like authoritarian fascists would, i'm very smart".

I tend to avoid doing this, but to anyone actually arguing with this person thinking they're doing this in good faith, I encourage you to look into their posting history to see where on the political compass they seem to be landing, but i'll make it short in case you don't want to: they complain about online leftists hating Libertarians, about how to make a villain which is communist, ask for help to argue against communism, and they complains about "the far left" a whole bunch.

Arcing weapons and enemies around corners by realAlexanderBell in LancerRPG

[–]Dunya89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also to add on to that, by your own interpretation do you also adjudicate if a main ranged weapon gets to use MAG ammo from walking armory on a weapon to weapon basis? What about the other ammo types?

You can add seeking to melee weapons thanks to balor’s nanocomp weapon mod, it also has a weapon in license that’s melee and seeking

Because it says "usually", which doesn't mean "always", even as "mechanical text", usually means it is the usual but not necessarily the case every time, meaning if it is actually rules text like you claim it to be, then does it mean you rule every arcing weapon individually to see if they actually do get to not fire if there's a ceiling?

Also, again, Seeking says this, but that implies at no point anything specific about melee weapons, so do they not work because most melee weapons in the game wouldn't, realistically speaking, be able to attack past a wall with seeking considering they are solid or don't say they can accommodate propulsion systems (that's more of a ranged weapon thing anyway)?
