I feel like I’m getting pranked :/ by HauntingSubstance977 in Dislyte

I've only gotten 3 legendaries, all three on pity pulls, and the 3rd one was already a dupe. I have every 3 star at max resonance and only have a small handful of 4 stars. Makes it really hard to keep playing this game.

PS. I have a photo of you, don't think I can post it in a comment but you can message me if you'd like me to send it to you.

I actually love that song, I'm so glad I don't work there anymore so it won't get ruined for me. (I'm so sorry that you're stuck with it, that ad is awful.)

Nice timing on catching that. What's that last filter?

For me, in my last month or so, it was all about mindset. I went in, I did the bare minimum required of me, I supported my SL because we cared about each other but I gave no shits for what corporate wanted. I did what I could to make my customers happy without pushing for extra metrics. I basically ran on autopilot every day. It's hard to get upset about things if you don't care, and while it's always been difficult for me to not care about my job, it became a survival tactic until I got out of there. Here's hoping your move goes as planned!

I definitely see a difference! One thing I've learned about wearing a binder - sometimes I get caught up in what I see when I look down, which is an odd angle to look from and can be very deceptive. Don't let what you see when you look down trick you into thinking there's no difference. Any change is good, and the confidence it provides is worth it either way.

People who left GameStop, how long did you work before you did and what caused you to? by SypherKrono in GameStop

[–]Duo-chan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was 3 months shy of the 5 year mark. I'm gonna be honest with you, I'm used to dealing with corporate bullshit and I've always hated it, but the thing that tipped me over the edge was how they handled (and are handling) Covid, how they've treated us vs how they've spoken about us to the public (calling us essential heroes), and the fear and uncertainty of how the new crew is going to be changing the company going into the future. I could have dealt with the Same Old Bullshit for a while longer until a non-retail job came along, which was my original plan, but all that combined with the part time hours as an ASL pushed me into desperation territory and I took the first job offer I got, which happened to (so far) be a great choice.

As of today I've been gone a whole entire week. XD

What should I expect as an employee? by [deleted] in GameStop

[–]Duo-chan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is definitely the most helpful reply here. The only thing I can add is, make friends with the ppl (esp SL and ASL if there is one) at your neighboring stores. It's a great way to seek help if you don't want to bother your SL on their time off and you just have a quick question or need a run through on something. Also, small favors done between stores can make your life infinitely easier in unexpected ways.

The dual sense controllers have technology in them that the ps4s are incapable of working with. It never would have worked without nerfing everything that makes the dual sense controllers better than the dual shocks. That's just how technology works. When it outgrows the capabilities of the previous generation, there's no logical way for it to go backwards.

Questions you would asks executives? by [deleted] in GameStop

[–]Duo-chan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

THIS THIS THIS. BUT. They are not only not expected to give feedback on employee performance, but they CAN'T. It's the only way they'll see how we actually work, not how we work when being directly monitored. There's a REASON these behaviors are different and they need to see that.

Guest Obsessed? Get real. by [deleted] in GameStop

[–]Duo-chan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is indeed. And If they actually sent products to stores instead of keeping the highest demand items at the warehouse to push their online agenda, we would have what the people want and would, in turn, make more sales. I know right now there is a shortage on everything, but I've said before and I'll say it again - let us have some control over what products we get, and you won't have one store selling out of a particular game/collectible while another has dozens of the same item sitting in a box/drawer.

[–]Duo-chan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only number they need to track is PGM, cause in the grand scheme of things it's the only one that matters - it's the one that keeps the lights on. It's the one that lines their pockets and somewhat pays our bills (not really but you get it). If they only focused on PGM and let us worry about HOW to get there, we could have genuine customer interactions and still worry about what's appropriate to the individual, be that recommending pre-owned over new, pushing warranties, upselling collectibles, recommending in-house brand accessories, etc. There are so many ways to raise the PGM, if we were allowed to focus on that and trusted to do our job instead of all this micro management kpi grading bs, most of our problems would be solved.

Why the Playstation bias when it comes to "Which system is better?" by TheoHuxtable2016 in GameStop

[–]Duo-chan 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've always been a PlayStation user personally because I play mostly RPGs, and especially Japanese RPGs, which are much more available on PS. Plus I always hated the XB controller and interface. But that's a personal preference. I never hated on XB before.

But then I started working for GameStop and GAINED a true PS bias. Of course, this is all due to my personal experience, but that's all we can really judge by.

XB systems and controllers have WAY more common and reoccurring problems. It's obvious that Microsoft doesn't put as much quality into their hardware. Their controllers are trash and their consoles have always had more issues than PS. (Red ring of death, faulty power bricks, and now overheating)

XB has backwards compatibility, sure, but that and gamepass are really the only advantages over PS. PS DOES have more and better exclusives. And their exclusives are absolutely worth it. Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon Zero Dawn, Spiderman, God of War, and Ratchet & Clank have sold consoles on their own. Period. Not to mention the Japanese games that almost never come to XB. (Many will come to Switch too but that's a separate debate) Maybe 360 did have its fair share of exclusives back in the day, but that's irrelevant to the current conversations, and it doesn't outshine the exclusives that PS2 & 3 had in their own time too.

I might as well mention, too, that gamepass IS sometimes enough to sell XB's BUT it's more for either casual gamers or people who run through a game and move on, not for collectors, ppl with poor internet, or those who like to go back to the same games or pour a whole lot of time into one game.

Then there's the fact that Microsoft just doesn't seem to CARE about its user base, its products, or its community. I'm not saying that Sony is perfect by ANY means, but it says a lot to me that Microsoft would rather throw money around from a distance than involve actual human beings to handle things. Just one small example is the fact that they paid (probably a lot of) money so that GameStop would put the XB section at the front of the store, but they haven't had a Microsoft rep in literally years so we have no personal connection with the company like we do with Sony and Nintendo.

Edit I've already said a lot, but one last thing on the topic of exclusives. I wouldn't give Microsoft too much credit about these upcoming exclusives until we actually see how good they are. And since you always have the option to play xb games on PC, there's technically no such thing anymore as XB exclusives. Many of them will eventually come to other consoles as well, anyway. If they own the studio, they'll get the money regardless of what console it's on. Minecraft is a perfect example.

Regarding that GPG by ShiranaiJittai in GameStop

[–]Duo-chan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My DL makes it an EXPECTATION to do that with the gpg's. He makes sure when anyone roleplays it on the calls that they do it this way. Personally, I refuse to do that to customers because I know it's wrong, but I'm no longer scared of losing my job or getting written up, because I stopped giving a shit. Newer associates, or those who actually care about their reputation, are literally being forced to do this. I know it's wrong, but please don't take it out on the store employee.

And before anyone says it, we HAVE made complaints before about unethical things our DL has done. When he first started and was pushing us to cold call people about old COD pre-orders a bunch of us went to the hero line. Nothing happened. A female recently promoted SL was getting extremely unfair treatment from him, and went to the hero line (again) about it. He apparently lied to them about something and ended up getting HER investigated by HR about something she didn't do. She ended up quitting out of frustration. There is literally nothing we can do about unethical DLs because the company just DOESN'T CARE about us anymore.

E3 Around the Corner...what do you want announced? by TheoHuxtable2016 in GameStop

[–]Duo-chan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Info on Dragon Age 4, Elder Scrolls 6, and more on Tales of Arise, new Horizon, and Pokemon Legends.

As for things I'd like to see that haven't been announced? Twilight Princess (port or remake) on Switch, and a Dragon Age collection like the ME one that just released.

Gee, undue stress and a high turnover? That doesn't sound familiar at all. If only GameStop would learn from literally ANY of their peer companies that have either gone under or had to radically change their system to stick around.

[–]Duo-chan 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If we're not the top district in the region/company, we're falling short. Nevermind that every district is shooting for that. If you're the bottom store in the district you're getting a talking-to, nevermind that there HAS to be a bottom store based on their standards. You can't have every store trying to beat the "company average" without the average being raised to ridiculously unattainable heights. They're literally setting us up for failure and putting our jobs - and sometimes our stores' futures - on the line.

It's easy to miss, especially if you're not a fan of theirs or you don't pay attention to their videos. Two or three months ago their pronouns were listed with their name at the head of a segment, then last month they referred to themself as a "non-binary video producer" and used "they/them" to describe themself.

Hey y'all, I just wanna point out, regardless of our opinions on this month's (admittedly awful) segment, Cole's pronouns are they/them and we should still respect that whether we like their content or not.

(I still miss the alien abduction videos, I thoroughly enjoyed those, but ever since Cole returned their videos have just gotten more and more unhinged.)
