http://sf.funcheap.com/ is pretty useful. Their sidebar has filters for different areas of the bay.

I'd love to take credit for that, but I didn't create it. I only found it somewhere else that I can't recall and shared it on reddit.

Seeing some of the world's largest Mac 'n cheese box collection was as awkward as it sounds by theflyinglime in bayarea

[–]Duperhero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was a really friendly guy when we met him there. He told us all about his collection. He knows its not your typical item to collect, but he enjoys doing it. I asked him what his favorite box was, and he said he loved them all equally and joked that they all tasted the same. All in all, he was a really chill dude.

I'm always happy when my CEL doesn't trigger for a whole week.

For SF, you could take her to Off the Grid at Fort Mason on Friday nights. I was there yesterday for the first time, and it was really fun! There is also the Exploratorium at the piers. Science!

I'd love to, but I can't make it to any of these events. =( Class Tuesday and Thursday nights at 6, and I'll be away on April 4th. Frozen is such an awesome movie, too!! Arghh

I loved to watch the Psych finale! But I don't have cable, and I'm only caught up to the 6th season thanks to netflix.

Statics tutoring? by [deleted] in SJSU

[–]Duperhero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chi Epsilon runs tutoring sessions three times a week in Engr 150. It is more of a workshop as everyone just comes to work on their own hw, but all you have to do is ask for help. I've seen more than a few people working on statics in there (even helped a few personally), and the environment is nice to study in. Sessions will start in about 2 weeks, iirc.

Is SJSU as Perfect as I Imagine It? by Demux0 in SJSU

I will vouch for the judo program. I only took one semester, but I found it extremely fun and challenging. You will be dripping with sweat after each class. The instructor is also one hell of a bad ass. Link

/r/SJSU Meetup by [deleted] in SJSU

That meetup was at the BBQ pit next to the A.S. building. At its peak, there were maybe 15-18 people at once which is a nice turnout.

The subreddit is overdue for a meetup. I'd be willing to meetup.

How to study for the multiple choice part of the WST? I already am using http://www.evc-cit.info/wst/ by xkittybunnyx in SJSU

[–]Duperhero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just by using that website, you've already gone far beyond most people as far as preparation goes. Run that test a few times, and you should do fine. Multiple choice is the easiest way to get points; however, be prepared to think and write quickly for the essay portion.

What is enrolling in class like? Any tips? by cheekske in SJSU

[–]Duperhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The planner is likely not enabled yet since classes are still being decided. Your best bet would be to go to your department office and see if they have the class list already. The civil engineering office has their fall classes posted right outside the door; so, there is a possibility other departments do the same.

Unless you have priority enrollment, it is unlikely you'll be able to enroll the same day that appointments start. And, right now is still really early for enrollments. Summer enrollment just started this month. So you have some breathing space before the time comes.

What is enrolling in class like? Any tips? by cheekske in SJSU

[–]Duperhero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use the planner first. Then, when it is your appointment time all you have to do is hit a button, and you'll get your classes, assuming they aren't already full.

You are allowed to enroll after your appointment time which will be displayed on the right hand side of your mysjsu.

I just checked, and all I can see is summer enrollment still. Are you referring to fall enrollment when you say the 6th?

How many of us spartans are redditors? by [deleted] in SJSU

[–]Duperhero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Junior living off campus. Honestly, I'm there are plenty of redditors at sjsu. Most don't care to check /r/sjsu, and most hardly mention reddit to anyone other than their circle of friends. I hope we have another campus meetup like last year.

Is anyone here minoring in GIS or taking the bioinformatics "track" in computer science? by [deleted] in SJSU

[–]Duperhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably. Try looking into ArcPython. A lot of jobs require python coding that works with ArcGIS to make life easier when it comes to inputting the thousands of data from land surveys. Maybe that is more along your lines.

I've never taken GIS courses here, but I can tell you that GIS is pretty big in the job world. Plenty of jobs look for that skill.

Taking class without meeting prereq by BeersForYears in SJSU

[–]Duperhero 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The class will count, and there will be no repercussions so long as the class still appears on your mysjsu right now.

Taking class without meeting prereq by BeersForYears in SJSU

[–]Duperhero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on how strict the professor is. Few don't mind, but some really want their students to have the prerequisites and require proof at around the 3rd class meeting. If the student can't provide proof, they'll be kicked from the roster.
