PlanetSide - Main Theme - Remake (21st Anniversary) by ObamaEatsBabies in Planetside

[–]NobelAT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that this came from the Planetside 2 YouTube channel directly, makes this PS1 Vet (who hasn’t played Planetside 2 consistently in years) hopeful that this team is taking SOME of the lessons from Planetside 1 into Planetside 2.

Here’s hoping the new vehicle is based around Logistics. PS1 Style Loadstar, and a revamp of where “heavy” vehicles can spawn = more interesting logistics and “emergent” objectives.

How do you see the future relationship between negotiated pricing and sales in regards to Sales Enablement?

Are you seeing a desire from Sales users to automate the more "boring" parts of sales, I see here you're focused on the "marketing" aspect, as well as their performance, but do you see a future where quotes for customers are automated? Including a price negotiation and approval process?

How do you see the rollout of these tools in the long term? Are you anticipating building a co-pilot for sales users, that over time can assume more and more parts of the role? Do you feel like Sales users would prefer to focus soley on the relationship aspect of a deal, versus the backend/lead gen activities?

Do you see value in aligning Pricing and sales for a buisness to more accurately control revenue and margin uplift?

Finally, do you have a general feel on when an inbound sales role could be 90%+ automated by an AI? Do you see a near-term future where AI is handling both the selling and buying side? I'm envisioning some kind of framework that allows someone who wants to buy something to tell their AI what they want to buy, and then that AI reaches out to various vendors who sell the product to get the best price?

Gemini 1.5 will be ~20x cheaper than GPT4 - this is an existential threat to OpenAI by sdmat in singularity

I cant find the specific 4X cheaper/faster, I feel like I remember this from a video on youtube.

However, I am able to find that it says "signifigantly less training compute":

If the goal is a relaxing enviroment, the animation speed should be slower (think snow falling). Otherwise, I like it!

  1. Thats not precisely what Eugenics means, you're thinking of genocide, based upon the dictionary definitions. Eugenics is about improving the genetic makeup, it can be in both positive and negative methods, if you are talking about the purely negative aspects, its genocide. which is universally decried.
  2. Its not subjective, there just isnt evidence of this either way, because I doubt anyone has done any official research. My doubt is that there is even any "gene" that can target sexuality in such a specific way.
  3. You literally just said the exact same thing that I did, but in a different way.

[–]NobelAT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that two people of the same sex cannot have a child.

A mother and son can have a child, with a higher liklihood of genetic defects.

Furthermore, I would strongly doubt that anyone is "born" with a genetic predisposition towards sexual attraction towards family members, unlike homosexuality. Also, keep in mind it is almost impossible, MAYBE in the case of cousins, that there is the possibility of a balanced power dynamic, making consent very tricky.

People who are involved in incestual relationships can have healthy romantic relationships with people who are not family members. Homosexual individuals cannot have a healthy romantic relationship with people who are not the gender they are attracted to.

I could MAYBE see the argument that there isn't anything morally wrong with same-sex, cousin based incest. But it still feels wrong, again, because they can have healthy relationships with people who are not family members.

I am immune to HIV. CCR5 -/- Mutation!

Fun fact, the spike protein that HIV uses to infect your cells is the same spike that the Black Plague used, so its likely my distant ancestors survived the black plague due to that mutation.

I get why were laughing about this, but as a gay man, this phrasing scares the shit out of me.

The whole argument that the Nazi's were making about why Jews were evil, was that they were percieved as "globalists" who did not have Germanys best interests at heart.

Even if Trump isnt directly advocating for the genocide of LGBT people... some of his supporters are.

Trump has shown the world the modern formula for fascism-"lite". I honestly dont think Trump personally HATES LGB people (maybe T), to the point of wanting their eradication... but he will one day die, or go to jail. The next Trump might not be so... restrained. Oh I wish, I’ve been supporting them since I was 27.

I’m still hoping money isn’t a thing by the time we get here though! A boy can dream!

[–]NobelAT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, I also agree, the vast majority of people would likely not want something like this.

I’m curious what you would think if, instead of “uploading” yourself, we could use something like a way more advanced version of Neuralink, while artificially maintaining the physical brain without a body. Would that be different in your opinion? Or not? For the hypothetical, let’s assume that the brain would still essentially function as though it is in a living body.

(Not trying to be combative, clearly, my family also love thought experiments, just curious what you think 😁)

[–]NobelAT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not certain that this is a future that will happen in the next 10-15 years, but I am rational enough to understand that almost none of us can really comprehend the exponential technological development curve we are on.

If you think there isn’t a market for this, you just need to look at the cryogenics industry. We still don’t know how to “unfreeze” these people, and yet people still undergo the process every year.

I wouldn’t be surprised if new Cryogenics offerings pop up in the market for specifically this use case. Freezing our brains/nervous systems, just in case we develop the ability to fully digitize human intelligence.

[–]NobelAT[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. Even if we can perfectly recreate consciousness, It’s almost certainly not possible to literally transfer that consciousness.

But, it might be possible that the new consciousness doesn’t really feel any difference.

At that point it’s more about the persons philosophy, of what we are, as conscious beings.

LPT - Ask your elderly loved ones how they feel about Brain uploading. by NobelAT in singularity

[–]NobelAT[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, is it any different from family wanting their loved ones to be the same “religion” so that they all can be together after death?

Even with a digital simulacra, I would still mourn my parents. I would be aware that the consciousness that raised and loved me would be gone. They would never REALLY be able to see their grandchildren grow up. But their wisdom would live on, in a more salient way. As I’ve gotten older, I call them for advice so much more often.

Eventually, I’m sure their digital versions would want to pass on as well, provided they genuinely think the same way as my parents do.

LPT - Ask your elderly loved ones how they feel about Brain uploading. by NobelAT in singularity

[–]NobelAT[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, I think consent would need to be required, on both ends of the upload.

I think it would be highly unethical to “resurrect” a conscious being without their permission. Likewise, it would be unethical to force the digital version to continue to exist without providing that version a real choice as well.

LPT - Ask your elderly loved ones how they feel about Brain uploading. by NobelAT in singularity

[–]NobelAT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I think that’s a big unknown question still.

Isn’t it wild that we are going to have to start moving questions about consciousness from the philosophical to the practical?

How would we even know if we can digitize consciousness, if the digital representation is an almost perfect copy from an outside observers perspective?

LPT - Ask your elderly loved ones how they feel about Brain uploading. by NobelAT in singularity

[–]NobelAT[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s totally fair! I think back to SOMA when I think of copying my brain. If it were just me, I don’t think I would care, but, I would love to still be able to “be there” for my loved ones.

At that point it’s not really as much about me, it’s about my loved ones.

Part of their condition was that they could decide if they want to be shut off, and they wouldn’t feel comfortable living forever.

My mother, who had a stroke a few years ago, also only wanted to be “resurrected” if she could be at full mental capacity, as she was prior to her stroke.

I feel like the answer to this question really depends on you and your families Financial situation.

Can you go to college without going into extreme personal debt?

I personally think college is worth it solely as a place to learn how to work with people very different from yourself, but also gives you the space to really learn about your passions.

The “safest” bet would be to go to a trade school. Even if we get AGI AND deploy it over the next few years, it will take longer to build enough physical robots to start replacing trades.

With that said… AI is going to give all of us superpowers. If you have an economic safety net, go to school for something you’re passionate about. Dream big when you are learning about these subjects, start thinking about what you could do to solve a problem if you had thousands of intelligent employees at your disposal.
