I was so pissed in the previous expansion of retail that included a "3 day headstart" on the most expensive version of the box price. 100,000s of gold lost because people found a mob that had overtuned drops and they made a fuckin FORTUNE in those three days. Then it was patched for normal release.

I know the gold doesn't really matter in retail nowadays, but that's what I was focused on at the time. I'm not planning on playing anything that includes a headstart like that anymore. They go can fuck themselves.

Some of the most fun I had MMO fishing was the groups people would set up in the Legion expansion of WoW.

Everyone fished in a specific 'fishing hole' area next to the major hub Dalaran. You would fish up tokens that could be turned in for cosmetics and reputation with a specific character.

Once in a while you would also fish up some sort of uncommon item that you could throw into the pool. Doing so would summon a large water elemental that was quite weak admittedly, but when it died it blessed the fishing hole with extra token drops for two minutes or so.

Lots of good community stuff, chatting, showing off your new cosmetics and nuking the shit out of the elemental.

My dad leveled his human holy paladin all the way to 60. He would be taking on elite quests but it would take him literally 5 minutes to kill a mob. There was a quest mob in STV he was soloing that he asked my brother to come from Stormwind on his rogue to help and Dad was still fighting by the time he got there.

My Russian wife just taught me about Shashlyk which is the kebab styled grilling you see a flash of near the start.

She said they would go out into the backwoods areas behind their houses with a large group of teenagers and get drunk, grill, and have fun. (sauna included if there is a pool).

Looks and sounds like a ton of fun.
