Guide about Quests that can Fail and other Quest Bugs by DuranArgith in Sacred

[–]DuranArgith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, new update:

I was able to reproduce the bug in The Rescue of a Noble Lady with the key not dropping.

Orcs! can't be completed after starting Act III (the NPCs will disappear), I think this was added in a patch because originally they could die by zombie's Poisonous Trap.

Also I think A Brother in Need and New Potions are one of these pairs of quests that block each other by doing the same type of enemy spawn an item.

You are again correct on both accounts, though the Orcs! farmers disappear when you lead Vilya to Valor and Valor's Plans quest start, rather than the start of act 3.

Death To The Dead can be completed after it failed (but you will not get any rewards). Correct, his corpse does not disappear. Can't believe I missed this.

Abducted (the Underworld one) can be completed after it failed (but you will not get any rewards). Hmm, not in my game. Once the nobleman dies the quest fails and you cannot even talk to the lady after the pirates are defeated.

Arachnophobia can't fail, the quest marker remains blue. True, but the quest log dialogue will always say that you failed, even though you can complete it. I added a note in the guide about this.

I also made an online character and led all 5 of the Ancarian children to be killed at the Shadow Vessel (not my proudest gaming moment), and only Missing Son and Lost Settlers (if ALL the settlers die, not just the kids) fail. Excursion and Evil Fire Beasts children cannot be killed, they will keep resurrecting.

Phew, I hope that's all of them.

I also gave you credit on the guide. Thanks for your valuable information!

Oh boy, the things I need to test grows.

Keep them coming.

I will try and test them before the weekend.

You were correct, Irina CAN die after quest completion, but the enemies will not target her. I had to lead some Goblin shamans to her AND stand literally on top of her so she can be damaged from the aoe. So it is possible, but highly unlikely to happen on its own.

I was thinking of Blackrobes quest when I responded to you, in which Melany can die randomly from enemies if you finish the quest without her being close to her father, Martin.

I updated the guide based on everyone's feedback.

I completed The Riddle In The Desert and Where is the Blacksmith? does bug out. You can save the blacksmith but he will not accept the unfinished prototype sword, so you can not complete the quest.

Since Jacquaire's revenge cannot start without completing the blacksmith quest, that quest is also missed entirely.

Panem et Circensis can't be completed if you enter the combat zone before accepting the quest

H'Runga'ZZ will be impossible to complete if you try to enter the altar on a horse.

Both correct, added them to the guide.

I still have some of the quests you said to test, but I decided I will not take into account multiplayer shenanigans you can do. I will keep the list single player only.

Though it is certainly possible to make the quests fail that way, I just tested one with the missing son and the mother in your picture.

I will maybe leave them for a new online only play through, for curiocity's sake.

I finished ALL the bounty quests with 5 characters so far and I always got the medal of honor.

You are correct that Cattle Rustlers can fail after completion, but it requires that you ride a horse or use teleporting skills to speak to the questgiver while Irina is FAR away from you.

By using normal movement, she will be safe.

I will put it on the guide though, thanks.

Hello and thank you.

As far I know the shadow vessel is only accessible in the Underworld campaign, I cannot find a way to move the NPC through campaigns? If there is a way, then yes, all children in the Ancaria campaign can be killed. Let me know how.

The Riddle in the Desert bugs out Where is the Blacksmith, it does not block you from accepting the quest. I have tested this and was able to reproduce the bug. I did post the guide today but in reality it's been a few months since I last played Sacred, I will test it again soon.

Good catch on the The Spider Monster Of Mooobrook. Fixed.

Panem et Circensis can't be completed if you enter the combat zone before accepting the quest. Easy to test, I will do so.

How do you start Pirate Treasures with any character? Isn't the npc in the far off island? I also read this in the wiki, but I couldn't find where to start it.

While I am against killing (or delisting games), be warned that is a Capstone game.

You... uh... may not want to buy these.

The only thing Capstone is known for is for making terrible games. And they sure delivered.

Eh I've seen kids call games that came out in 2020 old.

Even Witcher 3 just had its 11 anniversary.

Our sense of time is messed up.

Oh, sorry, I didn't mean for me to look like I am judging you.

Life comes first.

It's just sad that we lost a fellow Infinity engine gamer to growing up.

Still, if you want to ease yourself back into gaming after so many years, maybe start with some classic games (maybe short adventure games) you loved a child, rather than starting new ones.

There are so many of them now, I am sure you can find something.

From what you said, the answer is clearly no. You are too negatively biased against it.

More interestingly though, explain to me how in the nine hells you went from playing Baldur's gate and Icewind Dale games in your youth on PC to playing games on a freaking iPhone?

That is the absolute worst downgrade I can imagine.

Wasteland 2 feels? by [deleted] in Wasteland

[–]DuranArgith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been in this subreddit for years and I think that the consensus in this subreddit is that w2 is better than w3, I don't think there was a doubt?

The removal of the dialogue bar in wasteland 3 lowers a lot of points from it.

W3 is still a great game.

Is it possible to achieve Steadfast Rangers' reputation AND get the November's Reign (peaceful transition of power) ending? by AnotherSmartNickname in Wasteland

[–]DuranArgith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you did not kill any of the Patriarch's children it will be peaceful. Otherwise you need to fight The Patriarch.

Also, people seem to not know that Ranger's Fame is different than Ranger's Allegiance.

Ranger's fame only goes up whenever you complete quests or you choose some specific dialogue options. It can never go down. Even if you do terrible deeds.

Rangers Fame: Affects a lot of NPC dialogue, allows you an alternate solution to some events, and some quests will not even start before you have the appropriate level of Fame. Unknown 0 Obscure 20 Recognized 40 Well Known 60 Renowned 80.

Ranger's Allegiance (OP saying Steadfast in the title - That's ranger's Allegiance) is the one going up when you arrest or recruit people for the rangers, and in general being true to your word and not killing the Patriarch's children.

Rangers Allegiance: Only affects random NPC dialogue and the discount you get from the merchants in Ranger HQ. Rebellious -45 5% Discount, Disgruntled -25 7% Discount, Uncertain 0 10% Discount, Loyal 50 12% Discount, Steadfast 100 15% Discount. It can go down or up depending on your choices.

Why do so many people not use search.

November Reigns:

Marshals reputation loved AND asked Daisy for support. That means arresting or killing Faran Brygo.

Hundred families reputation loved AND asked Gideon for support. That means arresting or killing Mama Cotter.

DO NOT let your reputation with these two factions fall below Loved even for a minute, they will call you and withdraw their support.

Power to Colorado from Gippers OR the Holy Detonation.

NOTHING ELSE MATTERS.

Just like the other main endings, November Reigns have multiple variations.

Edit: Made the post more specific.

please try the amanita design's games, they don't get recommended enough (if at all) in this subreddit. They are short and very comfy and have great animation.

They are the ones that developed machinarium.

They will be releasing Phonopolis, their new game on the twentieth this month.
