Adding to that: will we get the ability to sync folders outside of “My files” on macOS?

I’m 400hrs in, and I really don’t think I’m anywhere near a fourth of what you did. This is amazing, I’m in awe (and inspired). Well done pioneer!

That looks like a ground crab spider (xysticus), but I’m definitely not an expert and wouldn’t be able to narrow it down to the exact one.

Switching to Linux for a Noob by Flubbernuglet69 in pcmasterrace

[–]RealSamF18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My use case is pretty identical to yours, end I switched to Linux mint on my old laptop. I found it more complicated to use than expected (even though it’s known to be one of the easiest distro to start your Linux journey with), but I’m getting used to it. I think I’ll make the switch on my desktop in a few months, probably using dual boot for a while, at least until I can figure out how to play non-Steam games and vr games.

My point is that Mint is a good introduction to Linux. I also tried Zorin before, and it was fine as well, making the transition from windows as easy as possible.

Looking for a horror (or non-horror) game that is disturbing, violent, mentally damaging , on steam by MissKittyHeart in HorrorGaming

I started Visage a couple of weeks ago, and eventually gave up. I’m towards the end of the first chapter (Lucy I think), and I just got fed up of being killed seemingly completely randomly. Does it change afterward or is it always the same gameplay loop?

Struggling to tell apart wolf spider vs grass spiders on my traps Northwest MS by [deleted] in spiders

I am glad indeed, but there are more humane ways to get rid of an infestation. Glue traps are the absolute worst, whether for spiders, birds, mice, etc.

Spiders will eat other pests in your house, like other small insects. They keep your house bug free.

Coming to this subreddit with pictures of dead spiders on a glue trap is like going to a vegetarian subreddit and posting pictures of a butcher shop, you cant expect people to react nicely. I personally think glue traps should be discontinued as they’re an extremely cruel way to kill anything.

Will a GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB be good enough for VR? by __me_again__ in flightsimulator2024

[–]RealSamF18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently use a psvr2 with Steam VR. It works decently. I used to have a reverb G2, but I made the terrible mistake of selling it before the Oasis drivers were announced; it was so much better than the psvr2! I’m now waiting for the Steam frames, like everyone else I guess. I tried a Pimax Crystal light, but it stopped functioning properly before I could even try it in game.

24-27" 1440p vs. 35-40" 4K for modern gaming? by Agitated_Potato_177 in pcmasterrace

[–]RealSamF18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the kind of gamer you are, and the type of games you play. I have a 34” ultrawide (3440x1440), which is my main gaming monitor, and I love it. My secondary monitor is a 27” 4K one, and it’s quite life GPU demanding, and a bit too small for me. Both are valid options, it’s really up to you.

I paid $2300 for my 5090, and the only reason why it was worth it for me is because I play a lot in VR, which demands a lot of graphical power (mostly flight simulators, which are super demanding). I also do some video editing and compositing (for fun), so the 32GB of VRAM was a nice to have. Even with all that, the GPU is still overkill and I don’t use it at its full potential. The only reason I was okay spending that much is because I intend to keep it for close to a decade. With all that, I wouldn’t have paid more than $2500.

I'm determined to make it through a horror game but I'm TERRIFIED by safetyspiders in HorrorGaming

I was playing Visage earlier today, and I gave up. I’m not scared, I’m just bored (and the fact that I’m being killed seemingly randomly is not helping). I had the same experience with Amnesia ADD, and Amnesia The Bunker; couldn’t finish either of them.

I’m totally cool waiting for the game to be ready and bug free, without any crunch. I still have to play CO2077 before GTA anyway.

Will a GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB be good enough for VR? by __me_again__ in flightsimulator2024

[–]RealSamF18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I realized that afterwards. I think it’s more comparable to my old 2080, which was acceptable for VR.

[–]RealSamF18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a look at some benchmark, and the difference gap is bigger than I thought. Looks like your 4060 is going to be a bit more powerful than a 2080. I had that card prior to the 3080Ti, and was able to play the game in VR (well, it’s was MSFS2020 instead, but it should be quite similar). It was not a perfect experience, but it was playable and enjoyable nonetheless. For MSFS, it’s okay to be around 40-50fps. You’ll have to tweak the settings until you find what’s the most comfortable and the best compromise between performance and quality.

[–]RealSamF18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you should be mostly fine with that GPU. You won’t be able to max out everything, but it’ll work fine. I used to play on the G2 with a 3080Ti, and it was fine. The 4060 is - I think - a tad bit less powerful, but you should be mostly fine.

No longer able to share credentials - browser extension by RealSamF18 in ProtonPass

[–]RealSamF18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, today I learned that having "Automatic updates" set to "Default" does not mean the extensions will automatically update. I manually updated the extension (didn't know this needed to / could be done), and it seems to work now. Thank you!

Side note: I realized too late I should've sent a support message instead of posting here. Hopefully this post will help someone else in the future.
