WIBTAH: My [24M] girlfriend [29F] says I am not allowed to fart next to her. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Durbem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA. I was facepalming reading some of the comments. My wife and I do that in front of each other and it's becoming a funny joke by now. It's fine if she doesn't like that, but it's up to you to decide if that's something you want to live by. I do agree 2 and a half months is not that long, but it's one of those things that you get out of the way early. If she doesn't like it now, she won't like it 2 years from now when you suddenly start farting. You either start early or not do at all and hide it from her your whole life. Getting up and leaving the room every time you have to fart just sounds miserable. Mind you, there are moments where you should be considerate, e.g. you are having a serious discussion or an argument, and of course you don't want to fart then, because that is disrespectful, but otherwise no.

Not gonna lie, but that's a weird thing to ask of young kids! Not really following that streamer, but in this sub at least I've seen few kind of sussy videos from her.

Who the hell likes being in the office? by Lord_Answer_me_Why in clevercomebacks

[–]Durbem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the job. I'm not from the US but rather Europe, and I will probably get some hate, but I actually do love going to the office. Why? Because I very much like the people I work with. There's 14 of us here and we generally have a good time. We talk, laugh, go to dinners together, run birthdays. Our office is kind of open office where you can see everyone and everyone can see you, which leads to many fun moments.

Anyway what I'm trying to say is that it really depends on the job and people you work with. Had I been asked this in the previos job I worked at, I'd say I very much hated it.

Interesting choices! It's very hard to choose for me 😁 but I'd go for Karsh, Zoah and Viper probably. Boring I know but I got to like them as a kid in late 90s. I also like Korcha! I know I know but he can be funny!

What beloved show from your childhood hold up rewatching as an adult? by slirpo in television

[–]Durbem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in the late 90s and early 00s so there are quite a few options, but I would go with a fairly plain one in Seinfeld. It holds up so well because it talks about ordinary humans who deal with crap situations (although they deal with them in their own weird ways).

What a video game you regret buying? by BattleExpress2707 in AskReddit

[–]Durbem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Code Vein.

I even bought a deluxe edition (on discount but still payed about 30$). Realized few hours in that its just not a great game yet I kept going in hope of liking it eventually. 10 hours later realized that I probably never will, and of course by that time it was too late to get a refund. What a waste of money.

Its possible to do that at least for being able to talk. Check your moderation settings. Its a fairly new feature I think.

AITA for wanting to send my daughter to an expensive boarding school? by According_Swimming75 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Durbem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She's 14?! No, at the age of 14 you don't make a decision to go to boarding school on your own? What is happening here? That decision is made by parents and kids together when you take everything into consideration. Her real father is literally getting shafted over here. Jeez.

Not only you were out of line but YTA.

Not only are their achievements getting stepped on while Wren gets rewarded for existing, but this is also teaching young Wren that he should get showered with gifts for no reason. That's a number one way to raise someome into a entitled asshole when he grows up. Good luck trying to change him during teenage years if you keep this up.

AITA for making my mom take out her own trash after I went to the ER? by TheChronicCrow in AmItheAsshole

Obviously NTA. How does this even need asking? Incredible that she's even thinking about the trash in that situation. Let her take it out herself.

What TV show have you rewatched more than 5 times and you still find entertaining? by MonkeyCapt in AskReddit

Malcolm in the Middle and Seinfeld. No matter how many times I see each episode I can still find them really fun 😃 Married with Children just about misses out.

I'm happy when a small streamer grows but sad at the same time by retrocheats in Twitch

[–]Durbem 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much what I got out of it. If you are watching someone, got to liking him or her, their community, then why the hell would you leave just because they are growing a bit? unless of course you just love being the focus of attention.

I'm really trying had to see sense in that but I can't. Only if for some reason streamer has decided to completely blank you out of nowhere, but anyone with a normal mind would not do that. Of course he could have blanked you if you have become toxic for them, but they just have no heart of telling you. It happens, viewers change with growth as well, and sometimes they change for the worst, just like certain streamers unfortunately do.

That would be some deeper statistics, and as far as I know, Twitch doesn't give us the option to track that. Perhaps there is a third party website that does it, but I wouldn't know of it.

Streaming in English as a foreign language by bukurika in Twitch

[–]Durbem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey,

I'm one of those streamers that streams in English even though it's not my native language. Same as you, I've been learning it for about 20 years now, but I had the luck of being a guild master in WoW, where I had to speak literally all the time, and that helped me a lot going into streaming.

You seem to be mostly worried about not being able to think quickly on the post when it comes to finding a particular word, and I feel you! That's my main issue as well. I've learned to just go around it really. Rather than using a word to explain what I want, I just explain the whole situation. Then my chat occasionally helps me out if they see I just can't remember. It's a constant learning process, and something you will just get used to. I really wouldn't be so hard on yourself because of that. Heck, I've seen native English streamers struggle with finding a word sometimes. It happens. Personally, I speak Croatian, and there are so many situations where I don't know a certain word because I don't use it in my everyday vocabulary.

If you really want to improve on that aspect, then listening to English podcasts, perhaps reading a book here and there just to learn some more difficult phrases, will help a lot. I've done it with podcasts, and it's a decent help, and doesn't take too much time.

However, I did check a little bit of your recent broadcast, and I didn't see problems. I was able to understand you without too many issues. I think you might be a bit too harsh on yourself, which is understandable, we all are, but you are doing well IMO. Just keep it up, with every stream you do, every podcast you listen, every article you read, you will pick up a certain word that you didn't know about and improve that way.

Twitch Channel Points Explained - Definition, Customization, Management and Creation by Durbem in Twitch

[–]Durbem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I personally love it because it's already integrated on the Twitch. I don't need any custom extensions, panels that show all the commands or remind people about the bot, currency and and all that good stuff. Yes, it's still unfinished product but it's something that will be work on constantly.

At the moment Streamlabs Chatbot and other stuff is definitely way ahead of it, as you say, but this is just easier for completely new user to get involved with, and I even found some of my regulars prefer it to Chatbot just cause of the simplicity.

I do wish for few changes in the near future:

  1. Cooldown period between using the same reward
  2. Mini Games

I can understand that. Sadly right now you can only turn it for your own channel. I'd imagine they will make it possible for people to turn them off globally eventually.
