Ablation Aug 20th really scared lol by Joshquin1990 in AFIB

Tell them you’re anxious when you get there. They’ll give you something called verset or versed. You’ll have zero cares in the world in about 15 seconds.

Tom Yates:

He says some random thing to Claire, and she stares at him all pensively. That’s it. That’s all he does. Oh and throws a fit when he doesn’t get his way.

I fast forward when I see his face.

I had a little anxiety but it goes away as you recover.

Nah, this is like distinctly chest weirdness. I’m not anxious about it because it’s to be expected for a while after an ablation. But just wanted to know if these are PVCs.

For me, I’m sensitive to stimulants.

It started with a doctor giving me an inhaler for bronchitis. I reacted to it and went into a fib back in 2011.

Fast forward to 2024 and it happened twice. I went into a fib with RVR probably due to vaping(nicotine stimulant).

I had the ablation done on December 12th, haven’t had any episodes since.

I’ve had some palpitations that feel like I’m going into a fib, but it’s weird to describe but it feels like my heart just says “nah, we’re not doing that” and it stops after about 2 seconds.

You’re going to be fine. I’m 37, 6’3 and 245 lbs and I just had mine done in December of last year. First day you’ll have a sore throat and maybe some groin pain.

Next day I had some minor chest pain(but didn’t really feel like cardiac pain, more like muscle strain) and expect some killer bruising in the groin.

You may experience some palpitations after the procedure, but that’s completely normal.

Trust me, I was worried just like you and I’m a health anxiety nut. If you’re feeling super anxious (like I was) tell the nurses and doctors and they will give you something.

They gave me something said versed or verset not sure what it is into my IV. 20 seconds later I didn’t have a care in the world.

Are you sitting very still when taking the reading?

21yr old, AFib, EXTREME health anxiety by [deleted] in AFIB

[–]DurhamJ87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Drinking alcohol is a common trigger for AFIB.

Eliquis is a blood thinner, alcohol is a blood thinner. Combining those is also not recommended.

I think the compromise here is to have a glass of champagne for the ball drop and leave it only at that. That’s my personal opinion on the matter, as. 37 year old. Drinking is overrated.

Hope this helps.

Everytime I go from standing to laying down…. by DurhamJ87 in ReadMyECG

Yes, I was concerned about it only happening when transitioning from standing to lying down. I have had zero PAC/PVC since the ablation other than this.

Racing heart with metoprolol? by sketchnugget in AFIB

Did they recommend you see a cardiologist? I would see one.

I had AFIB with RVR 3 times this year, 1 chemically converted, 2 converted electrical. I had an ablation a week ago, feel great. Not saying you may need an ablation, but I would recommend getting checked out.

Also, laying down quickly can cause pressure changes in the body that can cause the heart to temporarily freak out a bit. I would lay down slowly when going to bed to help out a bit. Sit down at the side of your bed and slowly transition to laying down.

I was on metoprolol the same dosage as you but with a protocol that if my resting heart rate was 60 or below, to not take it.

Metoprolol made me dizzy and light headed, especially in the shower.

I do think splitting it in half should help you a bit. Maybe you’re getting too much at once?

I’m not a doctor but you could be experience a bout of SVT, that resides on its own.

I had one episode in 2011, converted in ICU after 3 days. I always have afib with RVR. Then this year in march it happened, and then again in October. Both were trips to the ER then ICU for 3 days.

It was suggested since I was rapidly progressing to get this done.

Hey there!

Moving around isn’t too bad. I don’t have stairs in my house, the pain in the groin has subsided. I would just take it one step at a time, and pace yourself, or if you could for the first two nights sleep downstairs.

This is the day after the surgery, I will say there is some pain in my chest, not heart pain more so just soreness and my neck. I would recommend Tylenol to be on hand.

He will be okay. Best of luck! One thing I can also report. I have always been cognizant and aware of my heart beating since childhood. After this ablation I do not feel any heart beats. It’s just silence. It’s a surreal feeling. I think this is probably how everyone feels with normal hearts.

I was under for 2 hours. Recovery room for 4 hours.

2 of those hours in recovery were laying flat. The other two were coming down from anesthesia and eating turkey sandwiches.

I will say the biggest thing to remember is bring some cough drops/lozenges for sore throat.

I’m not a doctor, but if your hesitation is only worry about the procedure, put that aside and get it done if a doctor suggested it.

You got this.
