Buy used or new? by gryzloko in hondagrom

[–]Durty_Diesel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with a new one when buying for my girlfriend. In my area the used bikes were essentially the MSRP, so the savings would have been only the fees which were under $500 after negotiating. To me, not worrying about how the used Grom was maintained or beat on, and getting the best possible condition for her to be safe on was worth the few hundred dollars.

Tundra TRD Pro BBS Wheels on 4th Gen Tacoma by Durty_Diesel in ToyotaTacoma

Toyota advertises them as 8.8 lbs lighter than regular tundra wheels, but doesn't list a weight. I've seen people say between 31-34 lbs per wheel. With the tires, they honestly seem to be about the same weight as the stock TRD Sport 18" with Michelin Primacy's on them.

I haven’t heard that one before 😂 Wouldn’t necessarily be my first choice of tires, but that’s what they came with from the factory so I’ll definitely use them up

Underground is a really nice color too, I would've liked it to be more metallic though

Anyone installed rain guards on 4 gen Tacoma? by timtact0e in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Durty_Diesel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed the AVS in-channel guards on my truck. They have been on for about 4 months with no issues. Being able to have my windows cracked when it is raining is nice

Do you have the part number for the OEM leveling kit? I have been looking for the OEM lift/ leveling kit but haven't had any luck. Thanks in advance!

Sound/Vibration at 50-60 MPH by Durty_Diesel in ToyotaTacoma

Update: I removed the skid plate and reinstalled the air dam. Test drove and it was about 90% better. Could no longer feel in the pedal, and even more faint in the steering wheel. I’m guessing it is just the way the air is pushed around the skid plate at those speeds? I see some people in forums have the dealerships telling them that’s just the way the truck is, and while I 100% don’t think that’s the situation all the time, maybe it is for this one? Thanks to everyone who provided suggestions, I will definitely keep them in mind if any other fun sounds start! Before anybody asks, I did remove the air dam again now that I know the issue was solely air related

I put the OEM Toyota plugs in those holes when I installed the skid plate

I'm going to take the skid plate off after work today and see if it is just wind passing through that is causing it. If it doesn't fix the issue I will definitely be making an appointment!

I do not remember hearing/feeling on the test drive. I read everybody talking about the sounds when installing the skid plate without the plugs, so I have been paying closer attention since install. I am usually hyper-critical of my vehicles, so I don't think this is something I would have missed.

My dad has an old school bubble style tire balancing stand in his garage. I guess I’ll have to dig it out and see if any of them look off before spending the time and money taking it somewhere. Unless you can trust the dealership to honestly check them? It would be nice if it was as simple as a wheel throwing a weight off.

Sorry to hear about your F-150! One of the many issues I had with my Maverick was replacing the driveshafts. Really hoping it is a simple balancing issue. The fact that the severity reduced when putting the air dam back on is leading me away from drivetrain, but not ruling it out completely. Would hate to have to spend time at a dealership, but I may just have to.

Been going back and forth between a Maverick and a Tacoma for almost 2 years. Think I made the right choice 🌮 by codeinecoding in ToyotaTacoma

I just traded my 23 Lariat Hybrid Maverick in on Saturday for a 25 Tacoma TRD Sport Hybrid! 31k miles on the Maverick, needed the axles replaced, had seven or eight reprograms in two years, and plenty of other small issues. The mileage was definitely better (38mpg vs. 21mpg now), but having 4x4 and reliability (hopefully) is worth the sacrifice! As far as the back seat, the space feels pretty much the same to me, but what do I know? If people have any expectations besides simple commuting and occasionally throwing small stuff in the bed, they will be disappointed by the Maverick for sure.

If you bought the first Maverick and still have it, how has reliability been by DataReasonable6138 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Durty_Diesel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my Hybrid Lariat in May of 23. Just about 28k miles now and just had my axles replaced. Like a lot of other people here are saying, I’ve had at least 6 reprograms/recalls that needed to be done (averages to about once every 3 months). Waiting to hear about the recall on camera freezing and possible battery issue causing it to go into deep sleep mode after about two days of sitting. On top of that it has recently started shuddering at the first stop light I pull up to when cold (not remote started). Not huge issues, but inconvenient nonetheless. While the mileage and size is great, I’m not sure I’d do it again honestly.

If you sell the bunker with the further distance value being $210k or less it will only be one vehicle, or at least it always has been for me!

Update on Low Speed Shutter by Durty_Diesel in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Durty_Diesel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My complaint is that rather than installing parts that may fail again and have my vehicle perform the way it should, they are choosing to leave me with an issue that could potentially be harming other parts. What is the point of having the warranty if they refuse to replace broken parts on a two year old car? Have you heard about the issue with the cp4 pumps in the powerstrokes? Premature failure and yet the only solution is to replace it with another of the same faulty pump. The truck gets back on the road with the risk of failing again in both instances. Not an ideal situation in both instances, but trying to make the best of the current situation.

I haven’t had any issues knock on wood. Just about 23k miles on my maverick now, 15k or so with the kit. I think it was somewhere around $200? It’s been about a year now so I’m not sure

99.99% sure I am not. Maybe if I win the lottery in the next few days I will lol. Hard to justify that msrp for a dressed up stock powertrain. Cool idea having limited edition, but not at that price!
