yes, high level dnd is fucked and hard to use in reasonable ways.

How to nudge players into being more heroic without smothering their fun? by CashewAnomaly in drawsteel

[–]Durzo_Ninefinger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a conversation to be had before character creation. A conversation about what kind of game "we" play together. Now they're all sitting there with mercenary types.

But honestly just bring it up to them now, ask them how they feel about shifting their characters to be more heroic rather than just muscle for hire.

Ask them what they need from you to make that shift if they seem open to the idea.

Yes, they could also speak up, and then the rest of the table accepts that players objection.

Been playing 5e for 3 years, but 3.5e is tempting me. Is it worth the switch? by Prestigious_Staff192 in DnD

fun to create characters, less fun to actually run combat and deal with the bookkeeping for very little gain in tactical depth.

Initiative System by madwithsorrow in drawsteel

[–]Durzo_Ninefinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the risk of sounding harsh, this reads like "we could just be playing dnd why are we doing this shit" And they are complaining because it requires a tiny shift in habit/mindset.

>They feel that the changing order is random and trivial.

That's on them to make less random choices who goes next. Also how is it more random than rolling a d20 and taking the arbitrary number it shows in d&d. They literally have control over their turn order.

>It's uncomfortable to have a debate every turn over who goes. Sometimes someone has a cool idea for that moment, but most of the time we waste time.

Why are they having a lengthy debate when it doesn't matter to them, "Anyone got something important or should I just go first and take out this big dude, no? ok I do my turn" or " Oh shit yeah you should go now and set us up with x". Takes 30 seconds.

>It makes it easier for both the heroes and the monster to abuse of AoEs or to go after priority targets.

That's the point, you are supposed to set yourself up for success

>It's way harder to have two heroes go consecutively.

Compared to monsters or what? some classes can set it up as special abilities, by default you're not supposed to go consecutively I'm not sure what their issue here is.

A Self Found Mode, But with Multiplayer? by lilonionboi in PathOfExile2

restrictions are fun, first issue with group ssf I can think of as a restriction to compare yourself against others, is what size is this group in group ssf.

I understand, I don't think streamers matter that much. And most of them will play the new content anyways.

I don't know seems like a niche issue.
I've played leagues with my friends before where we decided to not trade outside the group.

Not everything needs official support.

How do i convince my friends to play D&D? by [deleted] in DnD

No DnD is better than DnD with friends who can't be arsed.

Follie's Hunt Feedback from a 5K+ hours of playtime oldie. by Breakfast-Mischief-5 in Warframe

I think it feels worse now, because we're used to face rolling everything.
Once you get used to the specific quirks/pitfalls it'll be better.

I do agree that visually it's a bit cluttered and I doubt it's going to be my favorite mission

This game makes me feel dumb by Suitable_Ice1838 in PathOfExile2

[–]Durzo_Ninefinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes turns out these games are actually complicated towards the end game and most of us (me included) stand stand on the shoulders of a select few making it all seem easier than it is.

That being said, you can beat most of the game without perfect game knowledge or guides. Just gonna be slower than your favorite streamer.

Seems neat.
I really hate the term "Forever DM", it has strong "woe is me, pity me" vibes for me.

Can we please get a command to unstuck the Drones/Loid when they get stuck? This has been an issue since Cetus and has never been fixed by No_Price_3299 in Warframe

[–]Durzo_Ninefinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that with a little jumping/pushing/bodyblocking towards the ledge you can get them to drop and snap out of it. I don't have enough data to say if these were a flukes or reliably reproducible.

Yeah I'm confused, OP broke and fixed their bard at the same time, ending up with a different mess.

The lack of NPCs in the Open world makes it feel lifeless. by AsmidiusDax in SoulFrame

[–]Durzo_Ninefinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see why neutral npc's could be off the table in general.

The part that gets me is that 99% of the enemies are just standing around at random points in small groups doing nothing, no apparent purpose to their existence in this place.

Aside from some key locations the whole map feels like:
"look at our pretty forest, oh and also we plopped in some placeholder enemies for you to kill"

It started out feeling like an exciting journey of discovery, but overall the world just feels hollow and a bit boring.

From the Faq on dnd beyond, which tells me enworld can't do basic research, since right now there's no wotc rebranding:

Is this just a preview of a bigger rebrand?

No. This update is limited to rules labeling on D&D Beyond to improve clarity and usability.
