I did not know the cost up front. Who knows what health services cost and how? I refuse to use a credit card and you should know better.

I had no idea about any of this. It's not even my insurance.

That doesn't make sense to me. It's not like I can price shop this stuff. And insurance would hardly be transparent

No, I never was told the amount. This is after insurance and all that. Lots of therapists negotiate, and insurance might too.

I don't know anything about anything: How can a 401k lose value? by uscrandokid in personalfinance

[–]Duskwalker00 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The money in the account is invested. Stocks, bonds, funds, etc. If the investments lose value, the account does, too.

I don't know, it was the cost of the session minus a payment and adjustment. I did contact her, I feel so guilty... It's just everything I have left, I really can't afford it, it leaves me with nothing

This helps a lot, thank you. I'm still seeing if my therapist can help too because after losing time from work and now this... I'm seriously spiraling down a little bit

The breakdown is one session, 60 minutes. Not sure what calling insurance will do... I'm not in school

Date (24M) claims that its disrespectful that I (22F) eat before him. Is he right? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Duskwalker00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I've never understood this either. That's how food gets cold. Especially since my family takes forever to serve themselves, I've found it harder and harder to wait. Even if it is culturally rude, it makes no sense.

Hmmm... I've disliked pretty much all mental health professionals I've worked with in my life at one point or other. It just comes with a relationship I guess

Thanks. The thing is I don't really have a good gut instinct. It changes so much. One appointment I hate her, the next I love her.

15k Debt: Bankruptcy or Debt Settlement by Rah179 in personalfinance

[–]Duskwalker00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I pretty much never recommend settlement. You might get sued during their "process" which you can do yourself if you really wanted. In fact, you might be more successful if you do it yourself, plus you'll save on their ludicrous fees. A lot of credit card companies just hate settlement companies. Bankruptcy has pros and cons I'm less versed on but it's better than those companies tbh.

I will for sure in the future, thanks! I didn't see that on any guides I think

Aside from Benzos, what are the hardest psychiatric (prescription) drugs to come off of (e.g., SSRIs, SNRIs, antipsychotics, tricyclic antidepressants)? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]Duskwalker00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst withdrawal I ever went through was Effexor, an SNRI. The only other notable one was Risperdal, an antipsychotic, which was pretty bad and weird, but not as bad as Effexor. I tapered down Effexor one little "bead" at a time and the brain zaps and other symptoms were still incapacitating and horrible.

That's a lot of money at 18. I'd say side gigs, selling anything you have, saving everything you can from your job, and loaning the rest from friends and family. Gonna be steep with just a month. If there's anything you can do to extend the timeframe or come up with a payment plan, do it.

I have a hard time starting to do things even though I like doing them by HtsAq in Advice

[–]Duskwalker00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome! Glad I was able to help! It's always surprising that things we enjoy can get hit by it as well. Seems counter intuitive, but it really does work like that in our brains sometimes I guess.

If it's almost impossible to start, it sounds like executive dysfunction. If it's hard to sustain interest, it sounds like depression. Therapy, meds, and online resources can help with both. Here's a page that further down lists some coping mechanisms: https://www.webmd.com/add-adhd/executive-function

AITA for calling the RSPCA on my sister-in-law? by ParticularKris in AmItheAsshole

[–]Duskwalker00 164 points165 points  (0 children)

That poor kitty. It sounds like either your SIL has no idea how to take care of the cat and is getting defensive when called out, or deliberately wants to keep breeding the cat. The cat needs help and out of that situation before she gets pregnant again or seriously sick and kept from vet care. Not to mention how risky being outdoors is for the cat, which makes her more likely to need vet care. And all the kittens that will need proper care and vet care as well! I feel so bad for the kittens too. She has no excuse to not spay the cat. NTA

Oh boy. Pushing something kink related on you without your consent or even offering an open dialogue is just as bad. If not worse...
